Oh trust me it does. At least in 2005, everyone realized that Bush sucked, and Kerry sucked too. IT was simply arguing who sucked less. However, with Obama, the Democrats don't think he actually sucks, and the Republicans are saying that he sucks without....any proof....and they'll latch onto anything that proves that Obama didn't really change.

I kind of hope the 'is-this-change' meme has a short shelf-life. Then again, it's about the strongest card in a weak deck at the moment.

Thinking about it... It's O'Reilly's main material... so, yeah, we might be stuck with it until Obama manages to actually fuck something up worth talking about.

But, what do you expect. The last 8 years was a shitbomb, so it's not like there is a record to protect - logical response, then - attack the simple fact that that clusterfuck is over, as though it were a failing.

Of course, half the time The Other Side usually had some basis in reality with their bickering and gripes. Unlike this "Oh noes Obama wore the same shoe again, that's not change FAILED PRESIDENT FAILED PRESIDENT FAILED PRESIDENT" fad we'll have to sit through from embittered Busheviks.

I'd like to see the Republicans push hard for energy independence. You don't even have to be "green" to want energy independence, so they can package it to their base as part of National Security™

Just look at Russia/Ukraine/E. Europe...point at that and shout about foreigners cutting off the gas.

The idea that there is some parity between 'Bush-lied-and-raped-the-Constitiution-and-declared-illegal-wars' and 'Obama-didn't-cure-global-hunger-in-his-first-four-days'... is somewhat laughable. On some level.

People whine he is not implementing changes at all - and yet people (sometimes even the same) are whining that he changes too much. Having the audacity to imply that the USA is not solely a Christian nation, having the nerve to support third world aid organisations that assist with performing abortions... the Pope was very upset.

So people.. make up your mind. Is there change, or isn't there ?

That's not what I said. Not every single critical thing that was said about GWB was a rational and well-ordered statement delivered in a reasonable manner. While I imagine that there were some, some of it, on the other hand, was lunatic screaming. My point was that every public figure gets their share of nutjobs and loons, and that that should be expected.

It'll be cheap currency for the more vehement of his critics for long time; it may not be intelligent, however, in basing much of his campaign on appeal to the masses, and much of that appeal on "change", Obama has laid himself open to more sophisticated attacks on this line.

You know, the people bitching are generally so outlandishly right-wing or left-wing that no sane person would embrace their ideas to begin with. I mean, seriously, Obama has to be a competent politician dedicated to doing the best for the country, not implementing every crackpot idea that falls under the label "change". He chooses qualified, competent people for his administration, makes some bold moves from day one and people still find something to complain about.

I guess the truth is, though, never set your expectations too high or else you'll just get punished for it. Do a bare-minimum, half-assed job just good enough not to draw attention to yourself and go from there. I guess it's the American way.

I trust Obama more than I do any other politician I have ever heard of. The reason is that he has not been in politics for the last 40 years, he has his OWN ideas, he has his OWN agenda, and he hasn't had the time to be sucked into some giant corperation's pocket. We need more politicians like him.

He also has the common sense to appoint people to his administration that do have 40 years of experience as a politician and since they work for him, they can help him with his political agendas.

I think, firstly, he should be held accountable according to things that have actually happened. A couple of days into his elected term, that's not happening.

I think, secondly, he should be criticised for failing to deliver... on things he said he'd deliver. Not some imaginary version of it.

Obama said he'd shut down Guantanamo. A few days in, the thing is in progress. Now - you can attack him for not delivering FAST enough, if you think he should be delivering faster... but that is what you should be measuring against - what he actually said.

I'd pay just to link arms with Ryadn :p

My understanding is that she is on the tiny size. Such a link is sure to be who Rover Sent Over will get through. If we're to keep that bastard Red Rover's people out we need to link arms with stouter stock.
