This idea was broached on another forum, where on that one the scenario was one of them being kidnapped by Al-Queda, but really, I think the scenario, for the purpose of thinking out, would be much more interesting if it was a domestic terrorist group, perhaps a radical white supremicist group. Either way, let's say the kidnappers set some sort of extreme demand and threaten to kill their hostages.

We've gotten to know Obama rather well. How would he react to such demands? What would be done to secure their safety? How would the country react?

And what would happen if they did in fact die?

I thought I'd toss this over to NSG to see what you guys have to say, because the other forum's not producing as much good thought about it as I would have liked to see.

There is nothing wrong with brutal, violent murder. So long as everyone knows it is all in good fun.
And I think that the resulting race war would be damned fun. Lots of burning cars, and probably Fiddlebottoms would die, saving future torch/pitchfork-wielding mobs a lot of goddamned trouble.

See, the race war is not something that bothers me because a lot of people think that I am Puerto Rican. So I am safe in the knowledge that whatever happens I will be disliked for my appearance.

Judging from the trailers of his latest movie, I'd say Liam Neeson would be a better choice than Jack Bauer for this. He seems to have the experience.

How would the country react?I would hope that a president in such a compromised position would be immediately stripped of his office, at least until the situation is resolved. Which would make it a rather pointless exercise for kidnappers, at least if they want to get anything out of it other than upsetting the nation.
