Knife wielding man attacks infants in Belgian creche

The man suspected of killing two toddlers and an adult in a stabbing spree at a Belgian nursery is a 20-year-old Belgian, a prosecutor said.

The man - who is being questioned - was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs and had no previous convinctions, prosecutor Christian Du Four added.

He was arrested after the knife attack in Dendermonde in which 10 children and two adults were also injured.

All 12 were operated on and their lives are no longer in danger, a doctor said.

Members of the Belgian royal family have gone to the town to offer comfort to emergency workers.

Prince Philippe and Princess Mathilde arrived at a crisis centre in the Dutch-speaking north-western town on Friday evening.

A man, who is believed to have painted his face black and white, reportedly tricked his way into the nursery on Friday morning, then ran amok stabbing children and staff before escaping by bicycle.

The unnamed suspect was detained at a supermarket a short distance away by a police patrol.

The two dead children were aged six and nine months, Belgium's Le Soir newspaper reports.

First the Roscommon Incest case (http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/breaking/2009/0122/breaking32.htm)(tl; dr, mother of 6 kept children in rat infested conditions and sexually assaulted them) and now this. 2009 is off to a good start for crazy people. :(

sad.

oh and for the Roscommon trial... that was going on for YEARS... so I don't think 2009 had anything to do with it.

but still... :(

something about that image has reserved me a place in hell (also how did he trick his way in:confused:)

this actually sounds like some sort of clown act only with less pieing

I don't know something tells me the man is mentally unstable...maybe its the face paint or maybe its because he lives in Belgium

Why does it seem that the only news stories that ever come out of Belgium involve children dying?

What bothers me is, WHERE ARE THE GUNS? They keep telling us this is impossible without legal civilian gun ownership.

Lame. Anyone can kill a baby, they neither can't nor won't even try defending themselves.

In fact, babies themselves are lame, but this is not the point.

They're so pathetic I can't even think of anything badass involving babies, not even eating them or

...

Hey.

I just heard it in TV - the guy was painted like Heath Ledger's Joker, and it's somewhere around the anniversary of Ledger's death now. Seems Batman failed to prevent the "social experiment" this time.

Maybe the dude's some kind of LG's evil son. I wonder if LG remembers being molested by a handsome woman smelling softly of sulphur, or something like that.

As for the sentence above I didn't finish: killing babies is like a cheap "look at me, I'm evil" poseurism. It's like cutting your wrists to prove how emo are you.

God willing, there was a zydeco band in the area to play "Yakety Sax" while the man made his escape.

While this is true, it does lead to difficult situations. For instance, let's say you've got a nice little family cornered in a cabin out in the woods somewhere, and they've got a baby. Killing the baby is just gauche, but letting it live smacks of a special sort of incompetence.
Tricky, tricky. I suppose it is better just to attack adults and display a bit of flair at it.

Ok, I grew up in Belgium, I kinda have to defend the place.

I was more along the lines of replacing toddlers with camera+gun turrets.
