Who do you all think is going to line up on the Republican side to battle for the White House in 2012?

We starting this already?

Amm.... Huckabee, Palin, Fred Phelps, the alien-looking Mormon one and, in a surprise bid for another shot, Hillary Clinton.

I'd rather not think about it for 3 more years.

It seems that every campaign begins earlier and earlier so yea!

Palin is a possibility as is Romney. Huckabee should be the primary leader but I am not placing bets on that one.

I will say that within the next year to year and a half, that presidential candidates on the Republican side will begin to announce their candidacies

The campaign never ends against the Republican menace:)

Anyhow, I think it'll be Romney or Huckabee who takes the nomination.

at this point only stupid people.

its too early to stake out a platform and its too early to know whether or not its a waste of time to even try to unseat obama.

so only stupid people will be putting in the effort this early.

I'll count that as a vote for Palin.

somehow i kinda don't think its gonna be sarah palin.

maybe they ought to try drafting ron paul and or joe lieberman.

better yet, just roll over and let themselves be replaced by libertarians, who seem to be better republicans then republicans, however disasterous THEIR blind spots are too.

personally i'd just as soon see democrates and greens being the two major parties, and not any of the real domestic enimies of constitutionality and rule of law be either of them. and maybe an american indipendent socialist third party as a major minority voice.

but i know that my be something of a wet pipedream, and of course not an infallable perfection even if it could or did happen.

under a perfect electorial system, NO political parties would be neccessary at all.
but then corporate lobbying would be federal offence carrying a manditory life sentence too.

An ATM machine with a mustache.

If it's a big enough mustache I could get behind this.

It seems that every campaign begins earlier and earlier so yea!

At this rate we'll need to start selecting the candidates for the 2068 election in five years.

I'm starting to find this obsession with elections bizarre. And I live in Switzerland.

What's with the Americans and their obsession with elections?

Yep, I went there.

I'll bite: what does "A blatu blande bitos biuon! A ,m' atriia, a ,ma helvetia! " mean?
My guess would be that it's a patriotic song in the Rhaeto-Romansch, with the second clause meaning "Oh my fatherland, Oh my Switzerland!" but the first part looks like "Oh blighted bland bits of bouillon!"

What's with the Americans and their obsession with elections?
Its systematic. Perpetual elections are pretty much essential.

This:
My sig is Helvetian Gaulish for "Oh, dulcet blossom of the living world! Oh, my fatherland, oh, my Helvetia!"
It's from a song by Eluveitie.

There, it's been said. You've endured the one, mandatory Ron Paul call-out. Now you can go back to your topic.

I really, really hope it's Sarah Palin.

We could do well with eight years of Obama.
