I must say, a source of comedy has been taken from the world.

A tribute to Dubya:
I think we all agree, the past is over.
This is still a dangerous world.
It's a world of madmen and uncertainty
and potential mental losses.

Rarely is the question asked
Is our children learning?
Will the highways of the Internet become more few?
How many hands have I shaked?

They misunderestimate me.
I am a pitbull on the pantleg of opportunity.
I know that the human being and the fish can coexist.
Families is where our nation finds hope, where our wings take dream.

Put food on your family!
Knock down the tollbooth!
Vulcanize society!
Make the pie higher! Make the pie higher!

I don't want to gloat to much.

I was at a local theatre showing the inaugurration live, and their were a bunch of jackasses behind me booing just about every time Bush, Cheney, or Rick Warren walked on the screen. They even booed when Obama said something nice about Bush. Which tells me that the kind of missed the point with Obama. He's above mere gloating at his political enemies. He strikes me more as the type to "talk softly and carry a big stick." (who was the source for that quote by the way?)

Seriously, I'm happy Bush is gone. I have some hope that Obama will improve things. I just don't feel much like gloating right now. I'll probably gloat later, but right now I'd rather honor the occasion than feel bitter or get payback for the Bush years.

We don't? Seems to me it's basically all we've done. I couldn't listen to AM radio in Bismarck for more than an hour without hearing someone blame Clinton for any number of things in the last eight years.

Be careful what you wish for. Mr. "Change" has cost THOUSANDS of points in the Dow and TRILLIONS more in spending to come. Our great grandchildren will be paying for this government. All because our citizens are too damn apathetic to hold responsible the people in power.

Pretty remarkable, considering he just took the oath of office. Those Dow points are on Bush's head.

As for the spending, it's necessary. Seeing as how letting the free markets "fix" things is something even Alan "Yoda" Greenspan admitted to being a really bad idea, what's the other option?

We do hold those in power responsible. We just do it via elections rather than beheadings. Although Obama's a Muslim, so that could change.

That said, he is seen as fairly good by a lot of people in the US. Probably due to historical revisionism.

No it was Nathan Bedford Forrest's bible for epic irony.

Good irony, but not epic.

Epic would be Governor George Wallace's bible.

Was it really necessary to use that kind of language? I didn't like the guy either, but you don't hear me saying those kinds of things.

Mostly because we're all reading, not listening, and partly because there's not a hell of a lot of Italian and Spanish firing off in Connecticut. At least not in comparison to, say, Italy and Spain.

Dont worry, you moonbats will still blame him when Obama fucks up.

* shrugs *

Exactly what the fuck is a "moonbat"? You'd think the more appropriate derogatory name would be "sunbat", given that a bat's habitat is more often moonlit than not. Proof that, once again, intelligibility is not a conservative concern.

You sir/madam are suffering from Yeswecanitis. It is an epidemic currently - and strongly affects your hearing. Whenever Obama says "I will introduce communism" you hear "Change !". Whenever he says "There is no God except Allah" you hear "God bless us all". Truly. I've been saying for 8 years that I just want that bastard out of my government, and I have that now, and I just feel relieved and ready to start cleaning up his mess. I never want to hear about him ever again unless it's to hear that he's been sentenced to prison for war crimes for the rest of his life, or that he died. But still, even I couldn't help feeling a little bad for him after a while. Or maybe just embarrassed for him.

Yeah, all right, sure, all this running him out of town on a rail business left me personally feeling profoundly vindicated, but even so, after a while I couldn't help wondering how much it sucked to be him this past week. I mean, it was great to hear other people expressing the same feelings I've had, but still...I mean...wow. He really IS disliked, isn't he? And then when he went to that event in Midland, Texas -- where there where still 1800 empty seats, even though the tickets were free -- and he gave that speech wherein he insisted that he feels great about everything he did, and great about himself, and he regrets nothing (it would have been terrific if he had started singing like Edith Piaf), and history will be his judge, etc, etc...it was just sad.

Or maybe the saddest part of it all, and the part I really have a hard time watching, is him just not getting it, or just refusing to accept it, refusing to accept how much of a failure he really was.

Poor Bush is dead
Poor George Bush is dead
All gather round his coffin now and cry
He had a heart of gold
And he wasn't very old
Oh why did such a feller have to die?

Poor Bush is dead
Poor George Bush is dead
He's lookin' oh so peaceful and serene (and serene!)
He's all laid out to rest
With his hands acrost his chest
His fingernails have never been so clean

Then the preacher'd get up and he'd say
"Folks, we are gathered here to mourn and groan over our brother George Bush
Who finished hisself up his two terms in the White House."
And then there'd be weepin' an' wailin' --- from some of those women ---
Then he'd say, "Bush was the most misunderstood man in this territory
People used to think he was a mean ugly fella and called him a dirty skunk and an ornery pig stealer
But

The folks that really knowed him
Knowed that beneath them two dirty shirts he always wore
There beat a heart as big as all outdoors (as big as all outdoors!)
George Bush loved his fellow man (he loved his fellow man!)

He loved the birds of the forest
And the beasts of the fields
He loved the mice and the vermin in the barn
And he treated the rats like equals (which was right)
He loved all the little children
He loved everything and everybody in the world
Only . . . only he never let on
And nobody ever knowed it

Poor Bush is dead
Poor George Bush is dead
His friends are weepin' wail for miles around (miles around!)
The daisies in the dell
Will give out a different smell
Cause his family's name is underneath the ground

Poor Bush is dead
A candle lights his head
He's layin' in a coffin made of wood (wood!)
And folks are feelin' sad
'Cuz they used to treat him bad
And now they know their friend has gone for good (good!)

Poor Bush is dead
A candle lights his head
He's lookin' oh so purty and so nice
He looks like he's asleep
It's a shame that he won't keep
But it's summer and we're runnin' out a' ice
