Thats What I I Like About...

SaintB
19-01-2009, 00:56
SaintB once more asks the tough questions.

Pick a poster on NSG, and tell everybody what you like about them, and if they read it, the have to reply in kind with what they like about you. Sounds easy but I think it probably won't be.

Rather than force people to say something nice about me, I will wiat for a vounteer...

What I like about Lunatic Goofballs is that he never fails to make me laugh while managing to keep his footing on that razor's edge of posting appropriateness, and that when he gives a serious opinion it cuts right to the heart of the matter too.

That... and the tacos.

You seem to be the kind of person who considers things throroughly and embraces a set of opinions/beleifs that you will not only defend, but that you will live by. To me, that is a very good trait; you have little doubt who you are.

What I like about Katganastan is her easy going and fair nature. She's willing to let a little bit slide (or I would have less than 1/3 of the posts I do) and can take a joke like a champ.

Ardchoille responds quickly and decisively to any problems that spring up in a thread; and usually with a snappy one liner that would make any Marvel Superhero proud.

I like Kryzokeria's ear piercings, and her avatar :p (just a little superficial I guess)

I like how Frisbateeria lurks in the shadows like bat man and pounces on wrong doers before anyone knows what is happening.

I also like the fact that none of the moderators have punished me for excessive spam.

I like Max Barry because, whatever nation he is, he writes excellent books.

I like Bottle because she is a forward, funny feminist.

I like TCT because he has a viable source more often than anyone else in a debate.

I like Nanatsu no Tsuki because she is easy to talk to and open-minded.

I like Fass, even though he has little tolerance for stupidity, because he is not a hypocrite.

I like Wilgrove, because he seems to be the only true Libertarian who is not hated here.

I like each and every moderator for doing an excellent job!

I like Grave_n_Idle because he's always spot on and well informed in his arguments.

I like The Brevious because no matter what, he always makes me laugh.

I like Baldwin for Christ because, like his predecesors, satire and genius are combined in his posts to crack me up so that I laugh like a maniac while at work and people think I'm insane.

I like Bottle because she is what we like to call in here ''no tiene pelos en la lengua'' (lacks hairs in her tongue). She'll tell you how it is, regardless if you like it or not.

I like Katganistan because she's tough and, always, well informed.

I like LG because... honestly, who doesn't like LG. That guy is just a hoot!

I like The Parkus Empire because, although we don't always agree on our points, he's always respectful.

I like SaintB because he cares about others and he's a goof.

And, oddly enough, I like Fassitude. He can be hard to swallow, but, we're not here to win a popularity conteste and the guy is well informed too.

Wow, Kyronea, I think that's the first time anyone has ever said they enjoy it when I go on one of my rampages. :D

I like you, too, for much the same reason I like all the people I like -- because you are very, very smart and you make very, very good arguments -- but also in your own right because you are a lot more gentle than me in handling people who are maybe being a little difficult. I see you as much more of a peacemaker than I will ever be.

But now I see how this thread is going to go. It's going to be a compliments potlatch, eh? Well, Muravyets will not be outdone in anything. I'm going to go think about that list, and by the time I'm done, a lot of you will have to work pretty hard to pay me back. Hehe. :D I'll be back.

I like LG because he seems to a very intelligent individual who always produces great points for discussion in a thread. For the same reason, I have the utmost respect for the mods, as well as their capacity to make well thought out and researched judgements when players have concerns. Both have great wit and are willing to say what they think. As for VKZ and Nanatsu, they are always funny, I cannot help but laugh at their occasional antics on NSG, they too, make good arguments. I hope to increase my abilities to debate on various topics, so I can defend my arguments amongst the fine debaters of NSG, but my post count is still relatively low... so it will come in due time.

How to Make SaintB Regret Making This Thread

In addition to SaintB and Gauntleted Fist, I like (and remember, all of the following are liked for their brains, as well as what is mentioned below):

> The Cat-Tribe because he is the SourceMeister! :hail: I can only dream of being as well prepped as he is. Also he has decent taste in music. I mean, damnation, that much professionalism PLUS The Pogues? Seriously. :D

> Neo Art because he can slice up his opponents like Zorro, only using the whole alphablet, not just the Z. Plus I've met him and he actually is very likeable.

> The MODS because they mod very well, but when they're not modding, they are some of the smartest debaters and funniest/most party-worthy socializers in all NS/G. It's great to see people who took on a heavy responsibility, carry out that responsibility but still be able to have fun with the forum.

> Poliwanacraca because she is the Queen of the Deadly Summation, able to sum up an opponent's lousy argument in 25 words or less in a way that not only exposes all its most fatal flaws instantly but is also seriously funny. Also, she can cook LOTR food.

> Neesika because she is a Warrior Sex Goddess, meaning she is a divinely sexy warrior as well as a blast to joke around with. She doesn't hold back, either in battle or fun.

> Gift of God because he is one of the most profoundly thoughtful posters I've seen. His comments are always mature, well-developed, informed, and deep.

> Dempublicents because she is ethical and mature in all her debates, honest and straightforward, and also well prepared with on-point information to back up her arguments.

> Lunatic Goofballs because nobody uses humor better than him in debating. He can heal or attack, lighten the mood, cut the ground out from under an opponent, or illustrate a point, and always with wit and without hostility.

> Smunkeeville because she is open and honest in all her opinions and arguments. She and I have often agreed and sometimes disagreed, but I have always had the utmost respect for her.

> Nanatsu, even though I don't know her very well, because she usually lightens up a contentious thread with her flirty humor, but she also provides thoughtful insights in her serious comments. She often brings up points or questions that were missed by everyone else.

> Ryadn because she's a no bullshit poster who can cut right to the heart of a point, and because she brings real-world experience to bear in her arguments. Also, the monkeybars story. ;)

> And yes, BECAUSE HE BEGGED SO WELL, I even like Parkus Empire -- a little, at least. Even though I don't remember ever agreeing with him about anything, and I do definitely remember getting into a couple of monumental arguments with him, I have to give this to the guy: He is well read, and that counts for a lot in this world. I may think his conclusions are all wrong, but I can't deny he got to them via a good, solid intellectual approach that is worthy of respect and should be looked to as an example by some other posters around here.

Gauntleted Fists for 2 reasons:

1. His name abbreviated is also the abbreviation for girlfreind so I can say I was talking to GF and make people think I'm not a chronically single looser and not be lying.

Gauntleted Fists for 2 reasons:

1. His name abbreviated is also the abbreviation for girlfreind so I can say I was talking to GF and make people think I'm not a chronically single looser and not be lying.Dude, do you really say that? *dying of laughter*

2. He's the man with the plan, knows exactly what he wants and how to get it.Thanks, man.

I like SaintB, because he has a great personality. (I love to rhyme.) He's always got a one liner ready, and our conversations over MSN are always filled to the bursting with humor and general silliness.

I like Baldwin For Christ because he is hilarious and brilliant, and because our brief threadjack/conversations have been hysterical so far

I like Nanatsu because she's flirty, fun, smart, and one of the only posters who understands my bizarre references to various Spanish-y things.

...Nanatsu -- all the hallmarks of an NSG crush without any of the pretention or arrogance. The consummate student-princess-tease (learning, and inflaming libidi while doing it): Kintaro Oe's ultimate fantasy.

...Neo Art -- knowledgable and concise without being verbose or condescending. A trustworthy source of opponent-crushing facts based in reality.

...Cat-Tribe -- Also devastatingly reasoned, but with a bent toward teaching rather than just winning an argument. Patient far longer than anyone needs to be, and purveyor of endless proof links.

...Neesika -- fearlessly passionate and fuck what anyone thinks about it. Also usually right, which helps. Sexy as hell, which also helps.

...Muravyets -- I'd want her on my side in any kind of fight, but especially when she expresses the perfect indignity or outrage in my head when my own words fail me.

...Poliwanacraca -- Another tough customer, but she has my everlasting respect for being a choral demigoddess, and like the other women I admire here, a survivor.

...Smunkeeville -- fierce den-mother who, even when I disagree, manages to retain dignity and stick to her guns while not being afraid to change her mind.

...Kryozerkia -- ascended to deserved Modliness without ceasing to be one of us.

...Katganistan -- kind and judicious...two things that may be harder to mix than oil and water. Fair in all senses of the word.

...SaintB -- egalitarian and energetic. I think he'd be the kind of dad I wish more of my students had.

...Baldwin for Christ -- is to NSG what J. Bob Dobbs is to Christianity. Also, he's the funniest misanthropic dark poet I've ever had the pleasure of reading.

...LG -- for you, O Clown Prince of Sages:

Poet:

Crowds give me the jitters,
One look at them and -Boom!-
My spirit turn into loose change.
And they'll get you turning cartwheels
If you let them get too close.
No, I'd prefer a quiet cloud in Heaven
To this noisy tenement.
Living on love and friendship...
What else does a poet need?
What you hear in your heart,
The clumsy truths that stumble
Past your teeth half-naked
Are smothered by the ticking of a clock.
It takes years to dress them
In a time-proof suit.
Toys are made for the moment.
What's genuine outlives galaxies.

Clown:

Rust-proof truths, eh?
If I hear another word about prosperity
I'll flip.
There's a crowd waiting-
Who's going to entertain them, you?
They can tell you'd rather sit on a tombstone groaning
Than juggle or joke.
Lighten up, my brother.
Listen to that applause!
Go ahead - be a noble fellow
Vent your every fantasy
Squeeze your heart dry-
But take heed:
Nietzsche died a lonely madman,
Jerry Lewis has his own telethon.

I like LG. He can bring a generalized Monty Python-esque silliness to any thread, and makes me laugh on a regular basis. You have no idea how hard it can be to make me laugh, and he really works hard at doing it for all of us.

> Lunatic Goofballs because nobody uses humor better than him in debating. He can heal or attack, lighten the mood, cut the ground out from under an opponent, or illustrate a point, and always with wit and without hostility.

I know I'm going to leave a lot of people out here. Even people that, while reading the thread, I thought "hey, I better remember to include X, as I like him/her because . . ." My apologies to all such people!

Anyway:
I like Muravyets because she is very intelligent and I very much enjoy her posts, even when we disagree.
I like LG, for pretty much the same reason everybody else has said.
I like TCT and Neo Art, for being very informative and for their general ability to explain law-related issues in such a way that they seem simple.
I like Kat for being an awesome mod and also a great poster.
I like all the incarnations that lead up to (and include) Baldwin for Christ, because he's been consistently funny.
I like Knights of Liberty, for being generally intelligent and making posts that I think are usually well thought-out (it helps that I often agree!)
I like Jocobia because he's a very informed and thoughtful poster. Also, his avatar is awesome.
I like SaintB, because he made this thread.:D Also because he seems very friendly and his posts are always worth reading.

And I do like NSG in general, really, because I've actually learned a lot as a result of posting here, and developed intellectually in ways that I never thought I would when I first signed up. I enjoy the ability to debate people, often fiercely, and yet still remain on good terms, and even support each other in debates on other subjects. It is also a lot of fun for me.

The human being in me says "w00t", the troll in me says "Im apperantly not doing a good enough job;)

Anyway, my list:

Mur- Laughs at most of my jokes, which is clear evidence of her wit:p. That and shes smart. Oh, and in the sex thread made some comment to me and Callisdrun about how shes in the "cougar" age group and is looking for "prey";)

Neo Art- Brilliant, and a condescending dick to people who need to be shown theyre not as bright as they think

Gauthier - Hilarious and viciously anti-Right wing. Epic win.

Neesika: Same as Neo Art

Trotsklvanyia (sp?) : Im in his sig. And he a socialist who isnt crazy. Was a nice balance to Andaras (I miss that little troll).

The Cat Tribe: His legal analysis has almost become mandatory on NSG

Trostia: Fucking hilarious and doesnt tolerate stupidity.

Pirated Corsairs: Smart guy and pretty realistic about most issues

Grave n Idle: Id never want to go into a religion debate without having him on my team

Neo Britonnia: Epic amounts of warhammer and D&D references.

You know, itd actually be a lot easier to just say there is probably something I like about everyone (yes everyone) on NSG. Even people who I think are more or less ideologically fucked have their charm at times. Im only stopping at the above list to save myself time.

One time Intangelon and I were in Kobe, lost. We'd been drunk in a bar in Kokobuncho and I wanted a cheeseburger and mentioned Japanese beef was supposed to be really good and that Japanese girl with the red hair (red like the hair of Milla Jovovovavich in 5th Element, not red like the hair of the freckled Irish girl that Jocabia almost got to kiss at that Hostel in Prague except it was my first time with Extasy and I kept touching them both and it creeped her out a little) was saying that the best beef is Kobe, and somebody said something about how Kobe beef is so tender because they hand-massage the cows, which I found implausible, but Intangelon wanted to see what that kind of facility would look like, and the girl we were talking with was totally going to do one or both of us, so I tried to sort of drop it, but Intangelon kept shouting "I WANT TO SEE THE JAPANESE PEOPLE TOUCHING THE COWS AND RUBBING THE COWS!" so we hopped the channel to Kobe, and we got lost, and I'm pretty sure Intangelon mumbled under his breath "Nanatsu no Tsuki isn't my type" although he might have said "Nani wa the fuck is that street name?"

You beat me to it.. I was gonna say something along these lines about you but now you just made me look like I'm only doing it out of obligation.

Bastitch.

But then, I like you because I can call you a bastitch and you know I'm typing it with a smile.

I also like Dyakovo for the same reason.

I like Nanatsu for prettymuch the same reason everybody does, but more importantly, because I've never seen her jump on a bandwagon to bash anything, even something she openly disagrees with.

I like Dempublicents1 because even though we have been known to rip each other to bloody shreds in threads, we were able to talk in TG and I learned she's pretty cool. Now I just respect the hell out of her.

I like Neo Art for similar reasons. We agree on almost nothing and yet can still have a perfectly normal conversation about fluff, and he was kind enough to give me pointers on a Warhammer project.

I like Tmutarakhan because while I'm pretty sure he hates my guts, he wasn't afraid to engage me in TG to hash it out, and most people don't have the guts or the passion to do that. Thus, I respect the hell out of him for that whether he likes me back or not.

I like Anti-Social Darwinism 'cause I've been sigged, and that's always a compliment, and I'm a sucker for compliments.

I like Lunatic Goofballs because he's smart enough not to take any of this seriously, which is something I think the rest of us tend to forget from time to time.

I like The Cat Tribe, because even when you piss him off he'll still give you a clear and genuine answer to a question. I respect that.

I like Cabra West, 'cause I think we've gotten over the violent stage and now I actually look forward to reading her posts.

If I've forgotten anyone, stay tuned I'll come back when I think of more.

I'm not fishing for compliments. If anybody I just listed doesn't want to say they like me back, I hereby release you from any obligation to do so. ;)

Intangelon
21-01-2009, 06:45
One time Intangelon and I were in Kobe, lost. We'd been drunk in a bar in Kokobuncho

I thought it was Motomachi near Sannomiya Station by the rebuilt Sogo across the street from the underground cinema. Oh well, that's what happens when too much Plum Gekkekikan gets me into trouble at pachinko parlors, confusing the balls with ben-wah balls. It must be all the noise.

and I wanted a cheeseburger and mentioned Japanese beef was supposed to be really good and that Japanese girl with the red hair (red like the hair of Milla Jovovovavich in 5th Element, not red like the hair of the freckled Irish girl that Jocabia almost got to kiss at that Hostel in Prague except it was my first time with Extasy and I kept touching them both and it creeped her out a little) was saying that the best beef is Kobe, and somebody said something about how Kobe beef is so tender because they hand-massage the cows, which I found implausible, but Intangelon wanted to see what that kind of facility would look like,

Well, I was striking out with my Bruce Willis impersonation ("negative -- I am a meat popsicle"), so, as is often the case when I'm sexually frustrated, I decided to turn my voyeuristic attention to the nearest ruminant. I just KNEW there was a beef massage farm on the road between Kobe and Himeji. Or was it Suzurandai?

and the girl we were talking with was totally going to do one or both of us, so I tried to sort of drop it, but Intangelon kept shouting "I WANT TO SEE THE JAPANESE PEOPLE TOUCHING THE COWS AND RUBBING THE COWS!"

Well, I wanted to-- wait, she was going to do one or both of us? I thought you mean "do" as in "kill". I kept going on about the beef massage because I'm pretty sure it's a custom to not kill the insane. I WAS TRYING TO SAVE OUR LIVES, DAMMIT!

so we hopped the channel to Kobe, and we got lost, and I'm pretty sure Intangelon mumbled under his breath "Nanatsu no Tsuki isn't my type" although he might have said "Nani wa the fuck is that street name?"

Okay, now I KNOW I was drunk. If she's not my type, I'll hump a Holstein.

Wait...

Either way, though, better safe than sorry.

Speak for yourself. I'm probably the only vegetarian who became one out of sexual trauma. I still jump when I hear an unexpected cowbell or the lead singer from Crash Test Dummies.

Cyber marry me!:fluffle:

I like you because, even after the intitial set back, you never ceased to debate with me as a gentleman and as good poster. Even when we disagree, you remain civil and are always willing to teach and be taught. That's priceless.

I sometimes charge in without enough consideration, and your gracious forgiveness was most appreciated.

I would be the luckiest man in cyber-matrimony. Alas, I think I should be gracious, as you are, and step aside for someone with a better handle on Spanish and a deeper appreciation of anime -- unless you're willing to teach someone who's Japanimation resume is this short:

Golden Boy
Project Z
Project A-ko
FLCL
Cowboy Bebop
Perfect Blue
Urotsukidoji
The first three films in the Studio Nue Space Battleship Yamato series

I like SaintB, because he made this thread.:D

Yeah thats Pirated Corsairs for you.... always being a buttkiss to the OP. :p[/kidding]

Also because he seems very friendly and his posts are always worth reading.

Aww thanks, whether I'm being serious or insane I like to say as much as possible with as little words as possible.

I always found your posts entertaining and you have an uncanny ability to pick out hidden jokes.

This thread got huge... sweet

I like...too many people even to begin to list. Basically, I like anyone who is smart and funny and not completely crazy (or at least, only crazy in lovable ways), even if I don't always agree with them. If you are smart and funny and not completely crazy, I probably like you!

Wow, I have a chance to be liked by Poli!

I like Poli because she's a certified redhead :p.

I like Whereyouthinkyougoing, because sometimes I think it might be Lupus, and I need to be reminded that it's not.

Oh come on, you know I only "hate" you by your definition, not mine, just like you only "hate" me by my definition, not yours. That way each of us can say "I love you" with a straight face, while muttering under our breath, "I know he doesn't mean that".

Ah gotcha. Ok then. I love you, man.

Carpet matches the drapes?

Doesn't always work... mine never matched until I dyed my hair darker (well black). I've had more people asking if I dye my hair as my natural colour than my current one.

Hmm... is that straying into too much information category

Cannot think of a name
22-01-2009, 17:10
I like some of you because you're funny, witty, interesting, good to debate with, and generally fairly intelligent. No names.
As always, this automatically means me.
Everybody loves Cannot Think of a Name . . .
Not that I'm bitter or anything. No. Of course not. That would be stupid.

Dude you're high. High like I wish I was. Most people don't have more than a "oh right, that guy" notion of me and that's only because my (lack of a) name sticks out.
I don't know who I like until they wander off, and then I miss them.
You'll not get rid of me that easily, I'm on to you!

I dig some folk, but I'm not going to mention them because I don't want to force them to write about me.

But tacos are awesome, they're like burrito tokens...
