What is your aim in life?

One-O-One

The title says it all, what do you aim to achieve?

I personally aim to never do a full time job, and to have as little impact on the planet as possible. Ugh, the last bit makes me sound like such it hippie, but people, it just makes sense!

when im in line i try to use it as a zen moment. i release all my frustration and tension and try to be pleasant to those around me, not caring that the woman in front of me took 20 items to the 15 item line, paid by EBT that had insufficient funds then dug the rest of the money out of the bottom of her purse.

Get through university (presuming this damn strike ever ends), then become a writer, if I have the patience and the talent for it. I'm not always sure what I want to do, but I'd rather be a writer than anything else. I'm particularily interested in writing screeplays, so I'm taking film production at university.

Also, live a long and happy life, try to make a lasting and positive impact on the world, and die as a citizen of a free and democratic country.

I would try to fix the school system because I beleive education is what makes a people great. I would certainly alter the whole legal and prison system if I could; the word "justice" needs to be stricken-out. As for spending, cutting it would be one of my main goals...whether or not NASA suffered would depend on a variety of factors, but I might have a choice between buying shiny space gear and saving lives.

Not to derail this thread, but space exploration is a long-term investment in science, education, and infrastructure. Earth has finite resources, and its just one planet, and sooner or later we'll hit a wall that no amount of recycling will break down. So, think of it, at worst, as a choice between saving lives now, and saving the species later.

If their's one thing in politics that needs to change, its in having politicians who plan for the common good, long-term, and not merely to the next election, the next decade, or even the next century. If we'd been reacting to climate change 50 years ago, or had fully considered the implications of funding Bin Laden back in the eighties, where would we be now? That's a big change that needs to be made, and I don't think even Obama has fully made it. He still lacks the truely long-term vision, I fear.

Speaking of my goals in life, I'd love a chance to get off this planet, or at least contribute to the effort to allow others to do so.

Personally, I'd like to go to Alaska and hunt grizzly bears. Or maybe go to Africa and hunt lions(although that's probably illegal now). So I'll amend that to: Go somewhere else in the world and hunt something dangerous.
