Do any of you have or know of anyone who uses an adjustable bed at home? If so, which brand do you feel is best and why? Mrs. C and I are checking into them and intend to get one for our new home.

Adjustable how? Sleep Number type, where you each control the firmness of your mattress, or Craftmatic type, when you can raise the head, foot, or both?

having asked relatives what mattress system they like the best the universal answer has been the tempurpedic memory foam mattresses.

The only type I know of are Craftmatic then... I've slept on one at someone else's house. I can see where it might be useful if you have a cold and want to raise your head somewhat, but to be honest I didn't think it was terribly comfortable. I'm not sure if that was because of the mattress or the workings underneath. Then again, I like a softer mattress, so YMMV.

Tempurpedic is nice. If you've a Brookstone anywhere near you, go in and lie down on one.

I've got an adjustable bed. It's actually a transformer in disguise. It can become a couch :D

I love pretending I'm bed/couch-shopping.

My bed is even better, I can remove the mattress and put it on the floor.

Looks comfy. :) Mine's only been used as a couch so far -- but some friends of mine and my fiance's might find out just how comfy it is as a bed...

i had a memory foam pillow, and it was the most comfortable thing ever for ages.... until, after about 3 years, it got so squashed it became pretty much rock hard. couldn't use it after that, and at about £100 a pop, can't really afford to get another one :(

Brookstone also sells Tempurpedic mattress pads... http://www.brookstone.com/store/thumbnail.asp?wid=10&cid=1006&sid=100607

As for the cost... I look at it this way -- if I CAN afford it -- something that's going to last me for years and help me sleep is worth doing without something else... so long as the something else is not food, clothing, shelter.... and internet service... ;)
