My lack of spam is due to growing up probably. When I was still in school it was all about +1. Plus, currently, I have a job which requires me to wake up at 550am. I would usually do my NSGing around 10-11pm but that's unlikely now. When I go back to uni my output will increase I think.

Actually I was wondering what was going on myself. Since Christmas there has been a definite slump in activity and I'm a bit unhappy about it. It is starting to pick up again now but I haven't had a good argument with someone (Come on Mur let's do another bout I need the practice) or even just semi spamming on a thread for awhile.
Or has everyone just put me on the ignore list.

It's not the place, it's the spam. The spam evolved/devolved into threads of "what are you doing," " look at this," "ASL," and the like. NS changes constantly, but the personalities stay the same.

Sorry, I'm not in a jovial mood. I've had some fairly non-fun moments recently on NSG and today, in the real world, I'm going to the memorial service of a person I admired greatly and was looking forward to spending time with this year, but who died suddenly last week. He wasn't a close personal friend, but he was one of the better people of my acquaintance and a quite brilliant artist. :( Anyway, I've never been much of a game-player. The spam has certainly devolved...
Things cannot "devolve." If their ecosystem changes in such a way that certain adopted traits are no longer useful, they may be abandoned by future generations in order to save the energy that would be otherwise expended on the maintenance of those traits. The proper term for this is "Streamlining Evolution."
In this case, the verdant ground of NSG has become less fruitful, so the spam has had to become less reproductive so as not to overbreed. Their metabolisms have slowed to allow for longer periods between sustenance, and some of the bright colors have been lost, in order to better blend with the drabber backdrop.
Yes, it is!

Remind me never to talk about any movies/TV shows/books with you as we may *gasp* talk about good bits and we shouldn't find it funny remembering what it is about.

There's nothing wrong with talking about something that was funny. Monty Python is a specific issue because repeated referencing and quoting has caused it to fossilize over the decades. What was once fresh and vibrant has become stale and dead, and it is only a weak stand-in for wit. Everyone sees the irony coming, and the non sequiturs have all become cliches.

You need to post on controversial topics. Not troll because that is bad, bad, bad. need to channel your anger into productive post and not just call the other person an idiot. You need to attack the argument.
Religion is good one
Politics if you can find someone who disagrees with topic. This place tends to be left of center. Which attracts more left of center. Repeat
Abortion it has been done I am not sure there is any place new to go with it
Gun Control This is a sore spot. This one usually draws the crowd. Something along the lines of the founding fathers we not in favor of guns. Wham!

My lack of spam is due to growing up probably. When I was still in school it was all about +1. Plus, currently, I have a job which requires me to wake up at 550am. I would usually do my NSGing around 10-11pm but that's unlikely now. When I go back to uni my output will increase I think.
You're defintiely right about that, when I first started that is pretty much all I wanted to do, but now I would rather waste my time in somewhat intelligent conversation.
It's not the place, it's the spam. The spam evolved/devolved into threads of "what are you doing," " look at this," "ASL," and the like. NS changes constantly, but the personalities stay the same.
..A bit of nostalgia: I miss Amarathe.
Amarathe! same here.
Spam has seemed to de-evolve into smilies and mindless blabber, instead of being at least funny, like it once was.
What are you talking about Minority? Other than that ONE serious debate about presidential requirements I have done nothing but spam...
You don't do it enough.
Maybe it has something to do with the fact that the spam forum is no more...
That would probably be a big part of that, but the deletion of that forum was imminent.
*mutters* It's because I've been trying to catch up on the past three years of sleep I've been missing in one week.
Who needs sleep when you have spam?

yeah, it was more active. i used to rack up at lest 1,000 posts a month (well, at a guess), wheras, for example, its taken me months to get from 18k to almost 19k
these days i have a life, i work more, i'm with my gf at the weekend, and because i don't know so many of the new(er) people on here i just lurk more than i post
Life got in the way for me as well, and we are pretty much identical on everything else. So many newbies it is hard to catch up on everything when you have been gone for well over a year.

I have NEVER found Monty Python funny. I'm sorry but their NOTING funny about it. Its not witty or great or anything. In fact it actually pretty boring if you ask me. I just don't see what the fuss is.Gotta get the lighting right.
what always happens to "good old days". they run aground on the rocky shores of "you had to have been there".

True.. I've been sitting in the 4,000's for so long. My first 2-3 thousand came so fast thanks to spam forum... Good times though.
