Rowan is nice. It's a tree with lots of Druid-cred as well as a cool-sounding name. However, it is a unisex name, so make sure his other name is gender-specific. Like Rowan Brendan Minoriteeburg, or something like that.
Trust me, as he grows up, he will appreciate the gift of a name that does not have him receiving letters addressed to "Ms/Mr" him, and beginning "Dear Sir or Madam".

If we look for good irish names, I've always liked Ruairi and Connor. If you wanted to be slightly more orginal, you could go for Padraig (gaelic spelling of Patrick).

That is true, I should have remembered that we are talking about Canada, not Ireland, where we are slightly more used to funky gaellic spelling.
That said I don't think Padraig is that difficult to pronounce. Ruairi could be a bit of an issue though.
