Do you hunt and peck? Two finger tango? Ten fingers? Use your superior telekinetic powers? Or do you have one of those fancy voice-typers, or whatever they're called?

I believe most people fear the man (Such as myself) who uses only six fingers, something about the odd number or something. Just it seems for some reason not too many people use a three finger style.:(

I only use 4 of my fingers to type with.

Sounds a lot like me. I can type 100 GWAM with only four fingers and my right thumb.

ten.....although I don't use the "proper" fingers according to my old keyboarding teacher... however I ended up typing faster than she could so she gave me a C.

Actually, I might be wrong, I just realised I used my pinkies to hit the special keys on the sides, like Shift. But primarily, I use just the index and middle on each hand.

Nearly the same. I use both index fingers to type, right thumb for spacebar, and left pinkie for the shift key. Shit, that's four fingers, I answered "three" in the poll. I forgot about the shift key. But yeah, I definitely don't hunt and peck, and I type a good 80 wpm before I start making wild mistakes, so. *shrug* Take that, sixth grade typing class!

I use all ten fingers to type, but on most keyboards I don't use my left thumb much. I also don't really use "proper" technique most of the time, especially for the letters that are between my hands, that is, the T, Y, G, H, V, and N. Those aren't the only ones I'll use the 'wrong' finger for, but those are the ones that I'll do it most often. (Or, rather, right finger, wrong hand.)

I think I use 6 most of the time. Usually it's all of my right hand and one or two on my left hand. My teacher doesn't like my technique, but I'm the fastest typist in my ICT class.

Essentially, yes. Granted, of late I have expanded my typing fingers to include the middle finger of my left hand, as well as the occasional use of my ring fingers. And, of course, my thumb to hit the space bar.

Basically, I just never use my little fingers on either hand.

Six, all but the two thumbs and the two pinkies. I have an improvised method, and it works really well.

All. My left thumb is generally used on the space bar sometimes, in tandem with the right thumb, but I don't use it as much as the right thumb.

I find that, when taking tests, I type far slower than I do when I'm writing something for an essay or the like. My eyes start to fall behind what I'm supposed to by typing, and then I start making mistakes galore.

The fastest I ever got in middle school was around 120 WPM, which was pretty damn good. But, now, I'm probably down to... oh, 60 WPM. Maybe 70.

i use all 16 fingers, including both opposable thumbs on each hand, and mouse with a foot pedal arraingement so i don't have to take them off my lananaran keyboard. (i wish i could find a decent foot mouse irl, and afford it if i ever did!)

I never got taught how to, but if you type a lot, it's just more economical after a while...

well, i was going to say 6, for some reason, but actually typing out an answer made me realise i mostly use just four, plus right thumb for keyboard.

Two finger hunt and peck. (Without much of the hunting, I know where most of the keys are now)

I was taught touch typing as a child so all 10 (I use thumbs interchangeably on space).

I've also been learning Dvorak recently, just for shits and giggles, that's how cool I am.

I "hunt and peck", so I get ~70 WPM.

I use two fingers, and while I've been taught touch typing properly I find I am much faster just slamming the keyboard with the two.

I'm a ten finger typist. I hate using the numbers at the top of the keyboard, though; I usually use the number pad.

My friend said he uses the "Columbus Method". Discover and land.

More seriously, I use nine. I can't use my right pinky to type because I fucked it up in an accident when I was younger. The system I've improvised to deal with this works very well, so I can type without looking at the keyboard too much (I have to peek every once in a while to keep make sure my index fingers are still oriented on the J and F keys).
Hm, I just realized that I am, in fact, using my right pinky to hit the enter key. I don't when that started happening, but my punctuation is still taken care of by the other fingers on my right hand (which my old typing teacher would regard as a cardinal sin).

Ahh, you happen to be a pecker then ;)

All of them - one of my thumbs is often holding my laptop in place on my knees, so the other gets to do spacebar duty. I've also just realised that I tend to use my right ring finger for most of the pinky keys on that hand: p, ;, etc. But the pinky gets used for shift and return as well, so it's still incorporated.

The fact that I'm using a netbook, and hence have a tiny keyboard, makes moving the hands around somewhat a lot easier - rotate and stretch lets me hit backspace with the ring finger.

However, I'm looking to find and build a chorded keyboard, in order to get proper speed and control out of it. As of yet, I haven't bothered.

I use 10 fingers from 6 different people. Using my dread necromancy I animate the corpse-fingers to do my bidding.

I use the middle finger of my right hand and the middle and index fingers of my left hand. The left pinkie gets to press the shift key which I had forgotten so I voted option three. Shuddup.

The Pinkies don't get much to do. I blame it on starting to use a computer before I learned the 10-finger stuff. Never took hold.

I don't really need to type large amounts or that accurately, and as i'm quite lazy as well I find most of my typing is done solely using my right hand. Most of the work done using the thumb, index and middle fingers, with the important role of hitting enter and backspace going to the ring finger and the little finger picking up the right shift and any capital letters on the left hand side of the keyboard.

I find it's as fast as I need and leaves one hand free for ... stuff. Also I stand to be less inconvenienced by the loss of my left hand should that ever occur.

I use the five on me left and occassionally the titanium claw on the right for holding ctrl etc.

depends on what life form i'm occupying at the time. however many they happen to have.
