Simple questions here; what actor do you think would be perfect for the role of a certain fictional character? What characters do you think have already been portrayed by the perfect actors?

Perfect Actors for Characters:
Me, I think that Hugh Laury (House) would be perfect as Sherlock Holmes.
David Tennant (Dr. Who) as The Riddler.

Characters who already had the perfect actor:
Colonel Nick Fury: Samuel L. Jackson
Augmark

Atticus Finch: Kurtwood Smith
Dr. Manhattan(watchmen): Ed Harris
Anyone else: Ving Rhames

I think the guy who plays Dean on Supernatural would be perfect as Harry Dresden.
The Romulan Republic

Gillian Anderson as the mother in A Wrinkle In Time. At least when she was younger, and before her questionable performance in the last X-Files film.

I don't know why, but that thought stuck with me.

For actors who've played a role really well in the past (given the OP, I'm not sure about roles where their's just the one actor's performance to go on, but):

Leonard Nimoy as Mr. Spock - One of the big reasons Star Trek succeeded.

William Shatner as James T. Kirk - Shatner may not be the greatest actor out their, but he nailed this one role perfectly, and his over the top, melodramatic style was perfect and he was an excellent counterpart to Spock.

Not to downplay Doctor McCoy of course, as the relationship between the three was critical, but these two just stand out for me.;)

Ian Mckellan - Gandalf.

Heath Ledger - The Joker (just won a Golden Globe tonight:)).

No one heard that, right? We don't need another Eddie Murphy movie where he is the only actor in it, right?

Perfect Actors for Characters:
Me, I think that Hugh Laury (House) would be perfect as Sherlock Holmes.

Why not Dr. Watson? Watson doesn't need to be the usual fat guy. (And I knew of Hugh Laury from the old Jeeves & Wooster programs. There couldn't have been a better Bertie Wooster.)

*kidnaps NM and drags him off to Area 51*

No one heard that, right? We don't need another Eddie Murphy movie where he is the only actor in it, right?
*Kidnaps Eddie Murphy and takes him to Area 51 so the aliens can do the ol' brain swap surgery between the two without anesthetic*

...given that House is basically supposed to be Holmes, that's...kinda a no-brainer?

Perfect actor/character match-ups of the past:

Jeremy Brett as Sherlock Holmes

Sean Connery as James Bond in the first four movies. Then he kind of started to lose the mojo.

Daniel Craig as the new James Bond. But he's only done two movies, so we'll have to see how long his mojo lasts.

Hugh Laury as Bertie Wooster. I still can't get used to him as House.

Gregory Peck as Captain Ahab.

Dream actor/character match-ups of the future:

Um... Hm. Can't think of one. I'm assuming famous characters from literature, plays, movies, tv or comics, and I know which ones I'd like to see done well, but I can't think of any current actor I think would be perfect for them. I mean, who hasn't already done the role -- see Daniel Craig, above.

I actually think the Street Fighter movie oughta be pretty good, Capcom's deeply involved in the whole decision making process....

But the Dragonball movie's gonna be Horrid....Im gonna have to see it, if only to torture myself for being into that show for so long......But god is it gonna suck, lol...

I would like to see Kurt Russell as Batman vs. Tim Curry as the Joker in a film adaptation of The Dark Knight Returns, but otherwise, they're both a bit long in the tooth for those parts-ten years ago, I'd have wanted Clint Eastwood as Bats and David Bowie as the Joker, but time rolled on...
Johnnie Depp as Dr. Frankenstein with Richard Kiel as the monster.
Christopher Walken as Dr. Caligari
Tim Curry as Professor Moriarty

well i suppose telly sevalis would be perfect for havaland tuf, and seagorney weaver for signey malory. but i really don't pay much attention to entertainment and thus acting and thus performers, so i really don't have the slightest idea who most of them are these days, or even if any of the ones i remember from when i ever did are still alive.
