Gas Millage

Brag about what you drive and what kind of gas millage you get. I'll ask, if it's not too much, that you put it in both gallons and liters.

I thought you use liters in the UK... Meh.

How different?

Usually, I drive a Honda Civic Hybrid. I get, on average, 43 mpg. According to a handy-dandy chart online, that's about 18.3 km/L.

Right now, I'm in a crappy rental with crappy gas mileage and I wish I could charge the insurance company for the extra gas and lack of nav system.

I get an inexplicably miraculous 29 MPG/70 LitersPerKm in my 2004 F-150. IN THE city.

I would ask that someone explain this?

I thought the pint's a pound the world around or some other bad mneumonic...

Edit: from wiki
U.S. liquid gallon is legally defined as 231 cubic inches,[1] and is equal to (exactly) 3.785411784 litres (1 L = 10-3 m3) or about 0.13368 cubic feet. This is the most common definition of a gallon in the United States. The U.S. fluid ounce is defined as 1/128 of a U.S. gallon.
U.S. dry gallon is one-eighth of a U.S. Winchester bushel of 2150.42 cubic inches, thus 268.8025 cubic inches (exactly) or 4.40488377086 litres (exactly). The U.S. dry gallon is less commonly used, and is not listed in the relevant statute, which jumps from the dry quart to the peck.[1]
Imperial (UK) gallon is legally defined as 4.54609 litres. This definition is used in Commonwealth countries and Ireland, and is based on the volume of 10 pounds of water at 62 °F. (A U.S. liquid gallon of water weighs about 8.33 pounds at the same temperature.) The Imperial fluid ounce is defined as 1/160 of an Imperial gallon.

And I was wrong about pints.

my car gets 35 miles to the US gallon highway...currently, it tells me the average is 24 mpUSg
that's 56.3 kilometers to the US gallon, or 14.89 kilometers per liter (I think)

35 miles to 1 US gallon equals 42.03 miles to 1 Imperial gallon.

I don't really have a way to separate it, unless you're asking for listed millage instead of actual.

But my car is supposed to get better city millage than highway anyways.

City, it's rated for 24 mph, but what I actually get is about 21 or so, thanks to Comm Ave traffic.
24 works out to 10.20 kpl (by the way, you can type it into google as "X miles per gallon in kilometers per liter") and 28 miles per Imperial gallon (again, google...X miles per US gallon in miles per UK gallon)

23 MPG - 10.2L/100 km (City)
31 MPG - 7.6L/100 km (Highway)
26 MPG - 9L/100 km (Combined)

in my 1997 2.0L Ford Escort but that doesn't mean I do.

What are highway speeds considered, anyway, 55mph or more?

Because I drive equally in city conditions and highway conditions.

it likes 41.4mpg average (british), but lately has dropped to more like 38 for some reason. maybe its the cold, my tyres certainly need looking at, maybe its the way i drive. on long journeys it can get over 50mpg easily, but round town its crap
so my 41.4 average is 35mpg (US), 15km/L, or 6.8L/100km

Damn, you're the exact opposite of me. In Ramadi I got shot at quite a bit but never got a scratch. Of course, back in '03 most of the insurgents were retards who couldn't hit a barn if they were standing in it. Most of them got killed and left the ones who had a better idea of what they were doing. Natural selection, if you will.

I'm just unlucky. The victim of hunting accidents, and even fishing accidents. When I was 10, my cousin shot me in the foot with a .38, and when I was 16, my other cousin shot me in the right ass cheek with a .410. I took a mostly harmless hit to the helmet once, too.

I guess your bad luck balances out my good luck. The closest call I had was an RPG-7 hitting the HMMWV (an unarmored M1025, near the fuel tank, hell of a lucky shot)I was 2m from and not detonating.

Yeah, I bought it when I was still in high school, its even a bertone, restored 100% Took me about a year.

even the engine bay, http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q173/NCCSean/IMG_9040.jpg

I love it, however it NEVER see's snow, ever. And hardly rain. Mines interesting, because, the transmission was wrecked, so I dropped a 5 speed from a 240 in it. Took a bit of torching :P

I love it I love it I love it. The gas mileage really is that terrible, but I also drive it pretty hard. If you can find one in good condition, go ahead and buy.

It must suck to own a hybrid, esp when they only average about 10-15mpg more than my V8 Impala.

That's a nice engine bay right there.

You know, there was a Bertone for sale not too far from my house a while back, but I didn't have any money to spare. The 780's pretty uncommon, as far as I can tell.

For a while, I was able to get 20-22 MPG out of my 750iL, which is pretty damn good for a V12, in my opinion.

Yeah it is, gets cleaned at least twice a year. That Mitsu TOD2 turbo charger was HARD to find.

Yeah, you'd be surprised how big engines can get good MPG on the highway. I've always found it amusing that my car averages 11 mpg less on the highway then a prius, but makes 200 more horsepower.

well i could in principal claim almost infinite 'mileage', as i do not drive any sort of mechanical transportation that burns anything. of course my body 'burns' catalytically, the food it consumes, so walking isn't completely free, even were one to discount the soreness of legs and feet when over doing it. and of course the energy used to propel the public transportation i ride has to come from somewhere too. but in both these instances, the 'mileage' IS, orders of magnitude greater, then any obtainable by any sort of personal motor vehicle.

I drive a Peugeot 306, it has a 60 litre petrol tank.

I usually get about 600km per tank for city driving & about 750km for country driving.

That would make 10 litres/100km city & 8 litres/100km country. I think that's right.

I drive very little, so a tank can last me a couple of months.

NFI what that is in gallons & miles, I couldn't care less.
