Does anyone have any New Year's resolutions for 2009? What might some of them be?

I haven't made a New Year's resolution in several years.

I believe that if you really want to make a change in your life, you friggin' MAKE the change whenever you decide you want to. Don't wait for an artificial starting line.

Make more friends,
Be less paranoid about what people think of me,
Worry less,
Organize myself better,
Work more efficiently to give myself more free time,
Eat more healthily (I don't need to lose weight, I eat relatively little, but what I do eat is junk)
Stop letting people walk all over me (this time of the year, with people's shoes being muddy, its costing me a fortune in washing)

Thats a few off the top of my head. But they're the same I had the year before, and the year before that. And last time I made an effort to not let people walk over me, it ended in a massive shouting match with one of my housemates which meant that I was stuck in a house for half a year with a group of people who all hated me.

There are girlfriends to be had on the internet. I met my ex-wife that way, though I gather some people have better luck.

Get at least a 1600 on the PSAT
Get into Advanced Placement courses for 3 subjects
Get a part time job
Get an iPhone
Perfect Yoshimitsu and Zasalamel

While these are things I want to do regardless of the New Year, it's okay by to fit them to the occasion.

All good ones

Thats a few off the top of my head. But they're the same I had the year before, and the year before that. Nah, you were right to assert yourself, you won't get respect if you let people run you over all the time, sometimes you need to take the high ground and hang on; the problem after that is not they hated you, its that they still did not respect you and saw you as an inferior who didn't know thier place.

Like the great philosipher named Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson once said to anyone who treid to get into a pissing match with him "Know your role jebrony!" I guess Jebrony is some kind of bastardized sandwich meat? All the more reason to not let yourself be it.

Of course, I also resolve to drink more, so, I guess we will just have to see, won't we...:)

You people and your academics...

I assume this was directed at me. And, to the contrary, I actually hate my academic life. I feel like it's somehow restraining me from really learning about the world. I just want to show I'm competent academically so I that maybe I can move onto more important matters like work and actually learning something practical.

Yeah, the ex wants to stop me from moving. I have to build a pretty solid case because the court is loathe to allow that sort of thing. The fact that he was gone over half the year each year the girls are old helps. The fact that he had basically nothing to do with their upbringing helps even more. I also have valid economic/personal/academic reasons to go. He would have to counter all that with something really compelling. The fact that's he has instead decided to go to South America for the next three months is not going to help him.

Still, it's not pretty.

is he suggesting that he will suddenly want to stay in the country full time and be there for the girls constantly? or does he just hope to keep you there being the full time mom so he can drop in when he is near by?

That was like.. once? And I was really emotionally screwed up and will admit it; you'd have to be to think being ignored (whether you are or not) on the internet is distressing. I'm working past it though happily.

The latter.

He is living with his parents. When the kids visit, they have to sleep on the couch because there are so many people living there. The court will not be impressed that he does not have a room for them, does he have any of their clothes or toys, nor has made any effort to get those things. With the money he's making, there is no reason he couldn't rent an apartment (as I am) if he doesn't want to buy a house right now.

He has said he'd move right close to us and start parenting, but frankly...he had six years to do that. With me trying everything I could to get him to do that (parent). I don't think he deserves the chance, frankly, at this point...not when he was fine with me moving with the girls until he found out about GoG. Only then did he suddenly become interested in keeping us here.

Each time I left him he threatened he would run off and never see his kids. It's pure manipulation.

if i were a judge i would not feel inclined to rule in his favor.

i generally feel that both parents need to have the opportunity to BE parents but if he's not going to put in the effort, there is no reason to let him, in essence, run your life.
