Favourite pie?

Cabra West

And no, I do mean pie, not pi!

I'm making an apple pie at the moment, with cinammon, rum and raisins in the filling. It's one of my all-time-favourites.
I used to have a brilliant recipe to make a covered vanilla custard pie, I adored that one, but I lost it last time I moved house.

So, what's your favourite pie? Share the recipe. And if anybody out there knows the vanilla custard pie recipe, I'll be forever in your debt!

Aside from the raisins (for some reason, it doesn't seem right in pie), it sounds delicious! Aw hell... you've made me drool over my keyboard, Cabra! :D

My favorite eating pie is Key Lime. Mmm.

My favorite throwing pie is blueberry. Wonderfully messy and stains the skin nicely.

My favorite overall pie is chocolate cream. So delicious, throing it is difficult, but makes a phelomenal splat with plenty of contrast between the dark and light colors. *nod*

Mincemeat pie is definitely my favorite. If I can't have that, leave me the raspberries, blueberries, and lingonberries, I can amuse myself.

Cherry... mmm. Hadn't thought of that.
Unfotunately, cherries here are outrageously expensive (I think they don't grow too well in Ireland), but maybe I could get some canned ones... I'll have to give it a try.

*lol BF is the same with any kind of sweet stuff. He eats things that to me taste of artificial sweetener, artificial vanilla aroma, and not much else.
I don't touch things like that, I tend to be a bit of a food snob that way.

I always find banoffee way too sweet...
I've just had the first slice of my apple pie - sweet, crunchy crust with a little caramelised sugar on top, delicious soft warm apple and cinammon... I'll need all my self-control not to finish the whole thing off straight away

lol, good luck with that ;)

banoffee is just perfect for me. i don't like cooked apple, and am pretty 'meh' about most other sweet pies. but banoffee with all its bannana and cream goodness makes me do this: :D

though this thread of yours inspired me to bake some cookies i've been meaning to make since before xmas. i wanted to make a whole bunch of stuff this holiday (including croissants, which look really hard), but just haven't got round to it :(

Pi for the win. ;)

Anyway, apple pie (no raisins and no cinnammon, just pate brisee and apples pre-cooked in sugar and rum till a thin layer of caramel is formed, then into the oven!).

Also, Sachertorte, carrots-and-almonds pie, Schwarzwalderkirschentorte, and Apfelstrudel.

And the Tarte Tatin.
Btw all the recipes are fairly available over the internet, so I'll take my currently being a pirate (see other thread of mine) as an excuse not to provide them.
