Tell him you smell it as well. That it is probably 'them' trying to screw with your senses. Go put on sunglasses, earplugs (cotton balls if don't have anything else), and some sort of mask to cover your nose and mouth. A tin foil hat may be a good addition, it will scatter the thought control waves.
Get a second opinion from someone with a sensitive nose.
It'll do you little good to burn in your sleep if he's right, or worry about burning in your sleep if he's not.
I don't see a reason to outright dismiss his claim as lunacy, though. Although it'd help his case if he could locate where the supposed fire is.
