Ok, so I have to write a script that has an easter theme for my church. I really an brain dead right now, could you pitch any ideas? It has to take place during modern times and I want it to be about renewal. Please be serious, I know there is talent on the NSG forums.
what do you want?
A retelling of the Christian Easter Story in a modern time/perspective?
how long are you looking at this to be?

Not a retelling, just something that will fit for easter, I'm really open to ideas. Yours is good, though.

Damnit, serious.
hmmm... Renewal...
Bare bones time.
first, an Overall theme.
you want a story from the perspective of...
"Bad person learns to be good"
"Good person finds out his efforts are not in vain"
"Good Person looses faith"

The third one.
Do one about in which the market makes a comeback. That should keep them feeling warm and fuzzy until it actually happens.

I only know clown skits.
Also, download Celtx. It's helpful with the formatting.

A man accidentally runs over the Easter Bunny with his car. The rest of the story is about him dressing up in a bunny costume and bringing chocolate eggs to little kids to atone for his crime.

Actually I did write a script about somebody shooting santa thinking it was a home invasion and being santa in driving around in a prius. I need a serious one this time though.

whats your denomination?
first, an Overall theme.
"Good Person loses faith"The third one.
I'll be signing off soon. so some homework.
ok, what kind of character will be the protagonist.
Discribe him/her/it. (yes, you can do this from an Alien/Angel/Devil/Animal/Ghost viewpoint.)
what would cause this character's loss of faith?
and what was that faith in. (for example, the "Good in people" [Fifth Element,] the Good in a person [Twist of Faith], God/Religion [Exorcist], him/her/itself [any and all 'I'm not good enough' type movies.])
and what would cause the renewal in faith?
toss as many ideas you can think of.
be general, that gives more options in the fleshing out part.
I only know clown skits. a clown who wonders if his/her attempts to make people happy is really helping?

Ok I'm thinking about a church leader who experiences loads of crap events. I'm pentacostal and the majority of my church is Malay/Indonesian. Thanks!

Why not do a skit about the Pagan origin of Easter? That'll be fun. :D

yeah. he experiences a lot of bad events, those bad events lead him in the wrong direction but in the end realizes that the important thing is that he is saved and that he can rely on his church bretheren to get him through the worst of it. and through the love and sacrifice of jesus he perserveres
how many people are going to be in this?

oh! When he's in a bad way he can meet up with an unbeliever and they can tell him how hopeless they are and he can realize that he doesn't have that same level of hopelessness because he can turn to his church people for help and stuff.

The third one.
in that case, consider buying a copy of "God's Favorite" by Neil Young. It's a modern retelling of Job.
While you might not be going directly for the story of Job, it has the same theme. I assume you are familiar (or can rapidly become familiar with...it's a short story) with the original text, and the play is a great concept to adapt an old story to modern story telling.

The story of Job is somewhere near the top of the list of things that occasionally give me qualms about being a Christian.

And Rod Sterling has to announce that he is in the Twilight Zone and then end with a nice wrap up.

I thought his harmonica solo on that was outstanding. Unfortunate that Stills and Crosby didn't lend their expertise to it, though. :(

Well, once you come to the same conclusions Job did, and you do what he did, you'll find that christianity and Job really don't have so much at all to do with each other.
Whatever bloodthirsty, egotistical monstrosity confronts you after calling it out won't have much similarity to the living christ/horus/mithra/simon concept at all, honestly.

The easter bunny goes on a drinking binge in Las Vegas and wakes up three days later next to a dead hooker.
