Personally, it was a fantastic year. Finally divorced my ex, and fell in love with GoG. Things have been rough and bumpy, but overall, it has been for the better.

Politically, it was a very interesting year, even in Canada! Who knew? Despite the economic downturn (or perhaps because of it?) things do really feel like they're going to change. Once again, there will be rough and bumpy spots, but I think it'll be a good change.

Personally, it was pretty alright. Started uni and all.

Globally, a bit pish.

Usual bollocks. Doubt next year will be much better. Globally it seems to have been a bit of a clusterfuck, as the Americans say.

Professionally it was good, romantically it was terrible, a few people in my life died and a few were born. The U.S. made me proud and California let me down. Pretty much a wash, as usual.

2008 was hard on my body. My liver, however, was doing better than it had in '07 but I made up for it last night. I don't predict any change for 2009.

For me last year was more or less a resounding success. Finished uni and got my degree, went on to well-paid cushy job which I by the way left for one that pays even more (and for which I have an iron-clad two year contract), the government instituted tax-cuts that affect me as someone from a higher income tax bracket substantially (with an additional tax-cut having set in at the end of the year), the Swedish Central Bank's aggressive interest rate slashes have been very positive for me and the low inflation coupled with the falling krona has seen my foreign currency savings balloon, I got back into a serious exercise habit the result of which has been that I am fitter than I have ever been, which has made me more desirable on the flesh market, meaning that I have been, pardon my French, fucking around like a rabbit, my circle of friends has been expanded and renewed, I am going on a month long vacation encompassing some travel, the gay agenda in this country has been nicely steaming ahead...

There have been negatives as well, but most of those have been relatively minor and forgettable. :)

The first half seemed happier than the second half but.... I got a lot achieved and finally, finally have a path set out for myself and clear, attainable goals to achieve. So, I'm looking more toward 2009 than I am looking back at 2008.

2008 started out ok, I'd just finished a semester at undergrad with my highest GPA ever, I got accepted into a graduate program, I ran into an old ex which I tried to get back together, but at the end I decided that she chose her boyfriend over me even though all she does is bitch about him. I got kicked out of graduate school, so 2008 started out great, but ended like shit. Here's hoping 2009 will be worth it.

On a good note, I got more involved in my Pagan path, and so far that seems to be turning up good results.

I finally got my degree *yay!*, only to have the economy tank so there are neither jobs nor apartments available in my area. My solution? I'm going to try to see if I can get in to graduate school in the fall.

I guess for me it was a little bit of both. Both up and down. Work is going well. Family life seems normal. Economy stinks, though so far I have been pretty much untouched. Here's hoping 2009 will be better.

It was just another roller coaster year for me. There were marked improvements in my life in all facets, despite having to deal with more drama and issues than I really want to (one issue from someone else is more than I need.) This has been offset by the fact the world itself is going straight down the sewer. At least we get to live through our own little slice of history here.

I moved across the country, started a new study there. I also travelled a *lot* (Russia, Bulgaria, Hungary twice, Germany, Austria, Sicily, various trips to Belgium and inside the Netherlands) and would have travelled even more (Finland and Denmark&Sweden) if I had a bit more luck :p On the romantic side, nothing, completely nothing happened. I quit my job.

In general, it was a year of personal changes and making new plans and steps for my life, while at the same time trying to run away as much as I could (hence, the travelling even more than ever before).

For 2009 I should do: Work hard for my studies and also make sure I do not fall into boredom because I left all my good friends behind :( Oh, and travel ofcourse, since it's also my biggest hobby :D I really need to see Ukraine, the Baltics, Czech Republic, various German cities, maybe Norway, Iceland and the British Isles. Perhaps southern France as well. And I'm certainly going to visit Denmark in my week off at the end of January :D

I spent more time suicidally depressed than in any other year of my life. I found out that I cannot have surgery for my medical problems without front money that is more than I have ever had at one time in my life; found Canadian doctors who I thought could help me for less, but they declined to take my case; my apartment building burned down and I lost almost everything I owned; and I leaned too heavily for emotional support on a dear friend who got freaked out by me and wouldn't speak to me for ages. That was just January and February. My income continued to fall short until I started defaulting on debts. August was good, I went out to California to pursue job leads (and a cutie that I have some interest in), and everything seemed set for a move out there in January, until the state budget deadlocked and a hiring freeze ended any prospect of a job out there soon. So I resigned myself to another winter in the godforsaken state of Michigan, and the winter came early and hard. I enjoyed the election campaign and its outcome, until the final shocker drained all the joy out of election night for me, and subsequent events replaced any hope about the future with gnawing anxiety.

personally it's been an adventure finding out how best to cope with flatmates (or not cope with them), and my course isn't too bad either. the Weather has been really poor.

I think that 2008 was like walking up crystal stairs...

While of course, at the same time, the crystal stairs are being sucked into a black hole of pure destruction and nothingness. As you are about to be sucked into it, you grab one stair at the top that is not being sucked up, and you just get a grip onto it. This one stair has an inscription- 2009...

Then you look on the bottom of the stair and see another inscription- Made in China

The stair breaks off and you get sucked into the nothingness.
