All right, Generalites, Ruffy has this little competition going on with someone from school about who's better at digital photography (believe me, our egos can't fit in the same room together), and I'm really not getting any good ideas.

I'm asking you for suggestions/ideas and if I use them, I'll post the picture here.

I need a still life, and a portrait.

Go.

I suggest a provocative picture of Nanatsu for the portrait...

Picture of a bare, overcast forest, no snow on the ground, and two dirt roads leading down into the distance.

For the portrait: Well, don't ask me. I'm not much for portraits, and Nanatsu has already been mentioned.:D

Wow... you must be a really good photographer.

There is more to it than pushing a button... things such as finding your own inspiration. I suggest you stop looking for ideas on an internet forum and look into your soul.

Yes i'm new. But to be honest, i doubt i'd find someone who can't even think of an idea for a picture to be so captivating that i'd take the time out to learn anything about him, even if i had been here for a decade.

Getting suggestions about what to do and interpreting them in my own way is cheating? I'm not asking for NSG to compose the photos for me. Simple suggestions can and have inspired me many times.

Anyway, shoo, no one cares about your irrelevant boohooing.

Maybe i'm just missing the point, but there is more to being a photographer than being told what to shoot. It takes creativity, and if he can't even come up with something interesting to photograph, he can't have very much of it.

a flower arrangement in a cow skull on a ghetto sidewalk would certainly be a smash bang, rockem sockem still life.

for a portrait, i think the thing is, the ultimate portrait is a canded shot of someone engaged in what they find most gratifying uniquely to their particular selves.

do you have snow on the ground? snow in bright sunlight can be a tough shot with digital. so....empty park at the end of the day where people have been playing in the snow...

Why do stupid baby/toddler seems to always win? In America's Funniest Home Video (A title that should make you want to commit suicide after you've seen the show), the "Cute" baby/toddler video wins the vast majority of time.

oh im not saying that they arent cute or that the pics arent cute.

its just so freaking predictable that the judges would go for "cute" instead of any of the more sophisticated measures of what makes a pic worthy of winning.
