I think the idea that there are no good Christmas songs is a lie, some of my favourites:

It's not really a christmas song, but it's a religious song, and it goes well with the season.

Rachmaninov's All-Night Vigil, especially #5

It's the kids I worry for the most. We're supposed to be advanced nowadays, but take a look at 2/3rds of the countries, and they're in a right state. Even in Europe, there's Bosnia, Kosovo, Belarus, Moldova, Wales, Russia, Albania etc.

Wales is that bad?

But yes, I know. Progress isn't something all people share. There's so much pain around.

Yes, they give free drugs at pharmacies to those that need them! In all seriousness parts of it are like a 3rd world country, but most of it's fine. I just have to insult it as an Englishman. It's my racial duty.

But yes, I know. Progress isn't something all people share. There's so much pain around.

But I don't understand how somewhere like Italy is just across the seas from somewhere like Albania. And you'd think, what with them being in Europe and all, our governments would help them out before helping out the Congo or wherever.

I see. And yes, it's your duty as an English person to feel irked at the state of a part of your country.

But I don't understand how somewhere like Italy is just across the seas from somewhere like Albania. And you'd think, what with them being in Europe and all, our governments would help them out before helping out the Congo or wherever.

Yeah, I know. It happens here in Spain. Some parts of Madrid are slums where the poor struggle. We're not a paragon of progress anymore other parts of the world are. I think we don't take care of our own. It's truly saddening.

Wales is a different country. Don't ever call Wales part of England to a Welshman, or he'll set a sheep on you.

Over here the police have started spraying doorways, often while the homeless people are there, with water so that they can't sleep.

That happens with the Basque here.

That's rather cruel. Wouldn't it be better to take them and try to put them in homes? But that does costs a lot of money. It seems this crisis will take more of a toll what we think.

You try being rejected at the age of 12, after spending hours mustering the courage to ask somebody out, and then tell me Slade is great.

Ah, but Wales is actually technically a country, but not a sovereign one, and it's a principality, and it all gets very silly.

It's very cruel, and it probably costs a lot to have coppers out on the street at 2 in the morning. Anyway, I'm off to bed, and I won't be back on NSG until the 27th at the earliest. Hasta luego.

Probably the greatest christmas song ever written
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ff3aoSyYOVs

"Now the winter comes down
I can't stand the chill
That comes to the streets around Christmas time
And I'm buggered to damnation
And I haven't got a penny
To wander the dark streets of London "

When the Scots, the Germans and French, put aside their arms and fraternised at The Western Front on Christmas Eve 1914, it shocked the authorities who made sure that these fraternising troops never got a chance to be near each other in that war again. You can't have the ordinary soldiers making peace, can you? It's positively unChristian.
From the film, "Joyeux Noel":
It was the first time that I heard the Scottish "I'm dreaming of home". You'll also love the German tenor's "Silent Night" accompanied by a Scottish bagpipe:

Your welcome. If you think about it, it ties in with Christ-mass for the line I am an Anti-Christ. So it's Anti-Christ-Mass.

my totally favorite 'christmas' song is the one about the christians and the pagans, this family that has both, getting togather and getting along and having/wishing each other a happy midwinter's eve.

more then one singer/group has done this one, and all of them have done it wonderfully well, though i don't for sure remember who wrote it or performed it first. its fairly contemporary, or seems to be, sometime in the last ten/fifteen years i think.
