Well, he thinks that no other African nation will intervene and end his debacle.

Robert Mugabe, the Zimbabwean president, has said that African nations lack the courage to use military force to remove him from power, the state-run Herald newspaper said.

"How could African leaders ever topple Robert Mugabe - organise an army to come? It is not easy," he was quoted on Friday as saying at a meeting of his party's central committee a day earlier.

"I do not know of any African country that is brave enough to do that."

The remarks came after Jendayi Frazer, the US assistant secretary of state for African affairs, called on the 84-year-old president to step down, accusing him of causing the "complete collapse" of Zimbabwe.

Mugabe's Zanu-PF party and the opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) are deadlocked over a power-sharing deal agreed in September as the economic and humanitarian situation deteriorates.

Well, he thinks that no other African nation will intervene and end his debacle. He thinks that no other African nation is brave enough to admit that Mugabe was worse than Apartheid. And so far, he's right.

Since when were the US involved in the fantasy invasion? Anyway apparently some of his troops are demanding payrises. I think the end's in sight.

He would be extraordinarily lucky for that to happen.

Right now, a lot of his armed men have been going with little or no pay.

Eventually, they're likely to kill him.

As unfair as it might seem, the best thing would be for some country to offer him asylum, and the rest of the world to grant him safe passage to that country as well as a good percentage of his money.

I suspect he'd take that offer, otherwise he'd rather go down in flames.

None of the options on the poll are likely. He will be President of Zimbabwe until he dies, at peace in his bed.

Given that even the most loyal army will go only so long with lack of pay, his forces will either melt away or kill him, either way his not likely going to stay in power.

Mugabe is 84. The chances of him dying in his sleep in any given day are quite high.

I think the odds have already swung the other way. I'm sure that if he looks a little bit sick, they'll bash his skull in with a rifle butt and call it a day.

He doesn't have to be sick. It is not entirely uncommon for an 84 year old man to simply pass away in his sleep. It's at least likely enough to be included on your poll.

He might die in his sleep, the Africans don't seem very intent or are they even able to mount an attack/peacekeeping operation for Zimbabwe?

For him, sure. For the rest of us, not necessarily. Technology keeps advancing, and (assuming humanity doesn't kill itself off) I expect old age to be defeated within the next twenty or so years. Of course, that doesn't stop an angry guy with a chainsaw...

SAS Hit squad.

Nah, Chances are nothing will happen. If any country invades it'll be South Africa, as there military is pretty much first class they'd have the means, they just haven't got the will.

Britain or France could possibly intervene. And probably would peacekeeping wise if there were an invasion.

I personally hope that the British SAS (or any equivalent force) abduct him and get him trailed in the Hague. This could be a rather popular move but the UN would never allow it.

how do we all "end" (our tangable lifeforms that is)? 'six feet under' is the general expression. yet i rather expect the point of the question was not how will he end as a human lifeform occupied by his awairness, but how will end his political possition.

to that, flip a coin, it may end with his death, it may end with his self imposed exile, in his case i would guess more likely to france or a french someplace more french or at least european influenced then the u.s. (although i've no doubt u.s. based economic intrests (along with, quite possibly, even probably, those of other 'western'/'northern' nations) MAY have contributed to his remaining so many years in power.

neither life nor political influence is immortal for any of us, so called leaders no less.

while "removed from power" is indeed a nice fantasy, the pattern isn't there to suggest it. Mugabe's probably going to die of old age/complications while in office. The rest of the world is doing the right thing and not interfering in his destruction of his home country, as anyone that did or would would end up fighting a war waged by the same people they're trying to help.

Zimbabwe is a writeoff...of its own making.
