The World Economic Forum is meeting this year in Davos, Switzerland and amoung the many things they're discussing, a question important to them is whether or not business leaders need a code of ethics simmilar to that used by doctors and lawyers. I expressed my thoughts on this through the following video

I'd apreciate your opinion on my thoughts and the question in general.

Yes, they do need a strict set of business ethics, of course just like the Dr.'s and Lawyers a lot of them won't practice these ethics.

ethics is a good idea (didnt watch your video) but they are also a useless thing to debate without a way to enforce them

Discussing business ethics in Davos, that luxury hidey-hole, is like flying to Washington in a private jet to beg for bailout money - both show a lack of connection to reality.

I'm sure there'll be some lovely speeches on the matter.

No, I'm suggesting people who fly to beg for money in a private jet are showing a divorce from reality. I understand your point about 'means not an end' but I feel that money has just become an utter abstract, bearing no relation to actuality.

It's a phenomenon described in Rogue Trader, where numbers become just that, random, abstract figures on a sheet. It creates a disconnect from the consequences of those numbers, and that leads to the sort of decisions that are neither fully understand nor particularly responsible.

Are you suggesting the rich are ethical?

As to the op:

The beautiful thing about ethics is how malleable they are when there is a chance for a great deal of money to be made.

in fact i am prepared to sell ethnics to bussiness leaders. all that is needed is congress to make buying of my ethics mandatory and to give money to the bussiness leaders to buy ethics from me.
