Fare thee well, Horst Tappert.

I know that Friday evening murder mysteries while growing up always included a good dose of Derrick. It's been a classic, and while Tappert's work shouldn't be reduced to his role as Derrick, it definitely is the one that made him most famous.

I wonder, where in the world have you watched Derrick? It's always said that the show was exported all over the world and had good ratings. Is that true?

For the show, I always liked that one knew who the murderer was and could watch Derrick solve the crime, which, at the time, was very different from the regular murder mysteries who left the viewer in the dark.

Ah well, mach's gut, Herr Tappert!

I've never heard of the show, but that sounds exactly like Columbo, which started in the late 60's.

Italy here. Derrick (on RAI 2) always attained monster-audiences: there was also a radio-drama version of Derrick, synchronised with the TV broadcast, and in the parts with no dialogue, an actor narrated the scene - it was meant for mostly blind people, but I enjoyed it anyway.

Everyone loves Derrick.

Actually it was quite different. Columbo is about logics; Derrick is about psychology. The human side of crime, one could say.
