Get down with the sickness

Sorry...couldn't resist the song reference for the thread title.

What do you do when you're sick? Do you watch old movies? Sleep? Read? Binge eat? Pout? Become annoyingly pathetic?

I ask because I have yet to move my bed today.

I personally become somewhat pathetic, a little irritable, and usually read and sleep off and on. I usually eat eggs because I usually have no appetite, and they are really easy to swallow.

I also retreat into my bedroom. When I'm miserable, I like to drag people down to my level...so it is in everyones best interests that I quarentine myself.

I have a similar way of dealing with sickness.
Although i usually try alternate ways of dealing with it, if nothing i can think of works i then take a few painkillers, hot drinks and laze about. and wish i were better.

I sleep. I'm rather pathetic. Hubby knows the drill. Sprite with Cranberry juice and chocolate pudding, and cuddles and soft music and cuddles.

Hubby is more pathetic.......he whines the whole time. We figured out it's better for our marriage if he's quarantined while sick. I come in at meals and bring him hot tea and soup then I run away before he speaks to me.

I hardly ever get sick.
Maybe once every other year at most.

I usually sleep, watch movies and read books until I get better.
I eat what I cook, so at those times I sustain myself with sandwiches mostly.

I have a friend whos boyfriend asks for room temperature orange juice. I made fun of him for it, but it sounds good now.

Did I mention that all we have in the apartment is ramen and eggs?

As for being pathetic, I may have woken up and called my mom saying "MAAAAHM! I'M SEEK AGAIN! BRING ME SOOOOOOOUP", to which she said "Are we 5?"

It's been almost ten years since I've been sick enough to warrant staying in bed. And even if I had wanted to, my family wouldn't let me. There's always something that needs doing, so I dose myself up with Sudafed, Aleve and tea and keep going.

Now that I'm retired and there's no one for me to take care of, I can relax a bit. Of course I have to make my own tea and soup and clean up after myself, but at least I can laze around the rest of the time.

1) Scramble eggs

3) Mix in with (cooked) ramen noodles

Or have a fried egg. Nothing like some raw egg yolk to put pep in the place where you store pep. I think there's a gland for that behind the nose, but I'm not sure.

And by suck it up, I mean bitch at my roommate untill he'll go for me.

I damn near have to be hospitalized before I'll miss class- so most of the time if I'm sick, barring a stomach virus, I'll be doped up on Dayquil and have a thermos of hot tea with me through the school day. Otherwise I generally sit around playing video games or surfing the net. If I'm really miserable, I'll try to nap on the sofa, like the cold I got right before final exams when I was sleeping like 14 hours a day over the weekend and days I didn't have class.

i was ill this last week with an evil cold/flu thing. i spent most of the time in bed, sleeping, drinking lots of water and not eating anything. when i was well enough to get up without falling over, i played video games and fucked about on the internet as usual... but maybe a bit more groggily and slowly than normal. played some xbox with glitziness when she was kind enough to come round and take care of me, and slept lots more before going to a friends's birthday party feeling mostly better.

that's pretty much my usual pattern. sleep tonnes, get a bit better, do usual stuff, sleep more, get well. it is interesting, though, that my usual daily activities (of fucking around on the internet) can be done both when i'm fighting fit and when i'm unwell. hmm... maybe i should get out more lol :P

I'm usually the same way. I lucked out and had a day off today...but I think tomorrow might be my first time missing work (in this case, it is mandated by my boss) due to illness. Fever is one thing that will keep me home if I can't drop it to 100.

I try to sleep as much as I can, but often I simply don't have that opportunity. In fact, I tend to get sick when I'm stressed, which causes me to be less productive, and therefore more stressed, causing me to get sicker and so on. So pretty much every year around this time I get massively sick for weeks, catching every cold and flu that comes along. I find that shots of whiskey keep my stomach from strangling me.

If I can manage it, I'll make chicken stock and drink that. Generally I don't have time for that shit. And I don't bother with the doctor...he or she just tells me what I already know...that I'm stressed, and it's viral. Meh.

No no no.

You cook the ramen properly, then when it's done, you toss in an egg and stir it around. It cooks all by itself in the piping hot broth without achieving that rubbery overcooked-egg consistency.

Yes, egg yolks. Mmmmm. I'm not sure what the point of the rest of the egg is other than to provide a vehicle for the yolk. If I could, I'd just eat the yolk and toss out the white. But I'm too cheap to waste food like that.

It's been years since I last stayed home from school due to illness (Curse my sense of responsibility and knowing that there is literally no one else who can cover my classes) and even if I manage to get hit on the weekends, I still have way too much to do from shopping to cooking to taking care of my son.

Oh, and the Japanese don't believe in strong over the counter meds.

Pretty much I keep going until I fall over, then I crash for a few hours, and go for it again. I try to keep up to the gills in tea and coffee in order to keep working, though I think my students have learned that if I don't bounce into the classroom like usual, now is REALLY not the time to harass the sensei.

That said, if by some miracle I get some time off and am fairly sure my son won't come running the minute I lie down, I read with a large glass of either apple or orange juice next to me with chasers of a sports drink. I also behave myself and get myself to the doctor's as soon as I can.

Well, yes, in the same way the English aren't a people, just a hodgepodge of Celtic, and Danish civilizations. Before it was partitioned, Poland had existed for quite a while and was seen a legitimate nation. The inhabitants may not have thought of themselves as Poles, but no one thought of their nationality as something important.
