I want recipes for rice pudding so I appeal to the culinary expertise of NSG. Only one caveat - I hate raisins.

There's recipies for that? I mean apart from choosing either of the four standard preparation methods

a) Open package of pre-cooked rice pudding, empty on plate, eat

b) Open package of ready-to-cook rice pudding, cook according to instructions on package, eat

c) Put rice, milk, and sugar/honey to taste in pot, bring to a boil, take pot and wrap in blankets, let sit overnight, eat

d) Put rice, milk, and sugar/honey to taste in pot, bring to boil, let simmer for about half an hour on low heat, eat?

Well, I guess you can choose from whether to just put the classic version of cinnamon and sugar on top, or also go for adding varous fruit (preferably peaches).

Of course, there are also more elaborate recipies that make whole rice pudding cakes and casseroles, but you didn't ask for those, right?

ETA: Curiosity let me research a bit - I found all sorts of recipies for strange things like rice pudding cupcakes, soup, arabic rice pudding, etc. People, especially cooks, are weird :)

Milk (a pint), pudding rice (4 ounces), sugar (1 ounce), and lots of grated nutmeg on top. Bake in an oven until it is cooked. Stir in a swirl of golden syrup when you serve it to sweeten it to taste.

rice pudding good. don't forget noodle pudding (kugle) also!

i usually don't like sweet stuff other then chocklet, but these once in a while i make exception. rice pudding WAAAAAY better then fruit pies.

as for traditional rice pudding toppers, didn't there used to be something called "hard sauce"?
(some kind of creamlike confection made with lots of sugar and booze, and i forget what, if anything, else, or how it was made, other then, buying it already made and spooning it on)

I don't have a recipe for rice pudding, but I'm gonna offer you folks a recipe for a treat from my country and state, named "Arroz doce" - Sweet Rice.

1 quart and a half milk (Hope that's a liter and a half!)
2 cups of rice (washed, well duh)
3 cups of sugar (Or to taste. I translated this recipe, but it MAY be a tad too sweet)
Cinnamon to taste (Bullshit, put LOTS OF IT! Everything's better with cinnamon :p)
1 can of sweetened condensed milk (Thanks, Ashmoria)
Big-ass pan (Mandatory jokey sentence in parenthesis)

Cook the rice in the milk, with the cinnamon, for 20 minutes, stirring from time to time; add sugar, leave it on for 20 more minutes; then add the condensed milk and let it on for 20 more minutes. (So, total cooking time, one hour)

Let it cool. It tastes better (personal taste) when put in a fridge after cooling, but not necessary. (Or is it? Dum-Dum-Duuuuum!)

Garnish it with cinnamon powder. (Cinnamon GOOD! :p)

Here's the recipe I usually use:

(1) Go to Indian Restaurant
(2) Order Lunch Special (Two Veg+One Meat, comes with free salad and rice pudding)
(3) Talk with a homeless guy while you eat (Don't worry, he's eating too. Apparently, the homeless love Tandoori and Rice)

sounds like what we call rice pudding to me.

there are just some things, you find by different names in different parts of the world, that turn out to be very similar things, probably because the're just sooo good.

no. there are 2 different products.

condensed milk is whole milk reduced to half volume

sweetened condensed milk is a thick syrupy milk that has a ton of sugar in it.

There are a few differences - In here it can be made as a nice kind of pudding-esque thing or as a delicious sweet sugary cold soup, depending on how much milk you add to it. :D

and did i miss the "heikoku gets back at the bastards who banned him" thread or did it not go well enough to report on here?

3 cups, too. I'm a translator. :p

But the RECIPE might be too sweet itself. Why I said you might want to cut back on it a bit. That goes for you too, Smunkee.

And the plan - nice of you to remember I moved! - is underway. I just need to find the guy that insulted me and get his e-mail somehow. That'll get him to get an... "unkind" e-mail, and I, under my new ID in the chatroom, won't get banned again. :D

Oh, I'm well-aware of how disturbing it is. And how petty. But, scorpion and the frog, Ash. ;)
