Zits...

Yes this thread really is about acne; not the lame cartoon that you find in the Sunday morning paper. Those disgusting little pustuols under the first layer of skin, especially when you were a teenager; how do (did) you deal with them; did you get them in strange places, and anything else you care to divulge about them.

I never once got a pimple/zit on my face, when I was a teenager I would always get them on my back and upper arms when I did get them and I never got one of the massive break outs that so many of my peers did. Now that I am an adult I get them on my legs and the most annoying spot you could ever get them, on my waist! Right on the waistline where my pants come up too, those things are painful!

The way I deal with pipmples is to pop them with a pair of tweezers as soon as they get through the skin, and then clean them out with peroxide on a Q-Tip. I have nocticed though that pimples tend to recure in the same places all the time.

I had terrible acne in High School, to the point where I had to take perscription pills to get rid of it. It all died out by the time i was 18 though. I still get a small breakout here and there, but in high school, i had acne in my ears it was so bad.

i got prescribed Accutane I really didn't have that severe of an Acne problem but seeing as i had become frustrated with the antibiotic treatment route i insisted on acutane and was able to talk both my dad a pharmacist and a dermatologist into prescribing the Acne medication that also doubles as chemotherapy. As a side effect i had liver spots for the 6 months of treatment on my hands. In retrospect i likely should not have been so insistent on Accutane but hey that's what teens do act with out thinking.

Acne, happens when I don't wash regularly. Being a teenaged boy and all, I get it occasionally, and I get it on my chest, shoulder and back which is just annoying.

That is SO not the most annoying spot for pimples. How about right on the nipple - not the areola but the nipple proper - or inside the ear canal? GAH.

I had really tremendously terrible skin as a teenager. Now that I'm well past puberty, it's significantly better, but still definitely less than ideal. I still seem to break out whenever I get stressed, which unfortunately tends to be pretty much constantly of late. It's very annoying.

On the nipple? that sounds worse than the one on my ear that exploded during class and white shit landed all over my shoulder. luckily i cleaned it up before anyone noticed.....high school sucked BTW.

I never got zits inside anything, or suffered major outbreaks, so I guess I'm lucky in that respect. The most annoying ones I ever got were those that grew on the back of my neck or on the top of my head, right under my hair.

Never got bad breakouts. Plus with my dad's Irish influence, I have freckles, so the zits I did get would sort of blend in. I get bumpy skin when I'm stressed, but never full horrible zits. Trust me, I appreciate how lucky I've been.

Never got bad breakouts, what I had were isolated zits that hurt like hell. I actually hurt my skin badly one time, I'm still seeing a doctor about that, but that's another story. I hate them but I found a way that works to minimize them, if not avoid ever getting them. What I do is keep a towel to dry my face that no one else can even touch. When people put their filthy mitts on your towel, that's a way to get zits.

I've never really had a serious problem with spots, but I do remember getting one in my ear. Sat in the bath playing with it and and suddenly the sound of a gunshot goes off and blood starts pouring from it. Most painful thing I've ever experienced!

I had a big cyst next to my ear that I had to get surgically removed, so now I have a scar there. I like to claim I got my earring stuck on a tree branch while skydiving.

When I had the surgery, it caused my immune system to flair up and produced a huge zit on my forehead which was incredibly painful (moreso than the surgery site)

I also had one really gross one in my ear freshman year of college.

Oddly enough, I rarely get really bad ones.

Yes I do, I'm talking about regular cloth towels, not paper towels or anything like that. It would be kind of hard to have a freshly washed towel every time I have to dry my face, that's a lot of towels and washing.

I never had them really bad on my face... I did get them, but nowhere near as bad as my youngest brother did. Poor guy was covered in them for a while.

I did get them on my shoulders, and still sometimes do. The ones I hated the most though were the ones in the ears or very, very close to nostrils... they would hurt like hell, to the extend of making my eyes water.

I got the ocassional zit when I was a a teen. On my face and sometimes on my shoulders. I used to pop them with a tissue, clean them with warm water and then apply Oxy-like cleaners. Also, something that helped with popping and subsequent healing was menthol based creams like Vicks Vapo-rub.

I had pretty bad acne in high school, and it didn't stop after that. So I got prescribed to Accutane, and I no longer have it, and I feel much better. If your acne really bothers you and regular washing doesn't prevent it, then talk to a dermatologist about accutane. Be careful though they will try to make you use a bunch of other topical medications that don't work, just go straight for the accutane. The sooner you do it the better. When (if) i have kids, ill make sure the second it seems to be a troublesome problem i will offer to take them to the dermatologist and get it taken care of as early as possible.

There's a good reason that Accutane is a last resort medication. It basically attacks your liver with a Tommy Gun. Do you really want to put your kids n that much risk when something else might actually work?

Its a risk, but there is always a risk with almost every drug you take. I took it and I am fine, they do monthly check ups and blood tests to make sure everything is fine. And if anything else works it will only be temporary. I personally would not want to have to constantly put ointment on, knowing if I miss a day it will come back. Accutane is the only permanent solution to acne.

I'm an acutane success story. I had really bad, persistant acne on my back, some of the really nasty ones on my sideburns, and a bunch on my chest. I took six antibiotics and four topicals to no avail before my parents decided to let me use acutane. I got on it my freshman year of highschool and despite having intense stomach cramps for a while and my eyes getting lighter (which I found out later were on the list of things to report to doctors immediately), I haven't had an acne problem since.

Still get a few reddish bumps on my back from workouts, but nothing like I used to and almost no white heads.

No, Acne is a skin disease that causes constant outbreaks of pimples, blackheads, and etc on a person.

Pimples are a symptom of acne; they are pustules that form under the upper layers of skin, and can be present without acne.
