Not today... but recently I had a smile all day due to receiving a provisional job offer (for a non-academic research job) for after my PhD

My internets is working better now, that and i got an A for a group work essay (very stressful). yay me

Yesterday I made a really awesome soap bubble while washing the frying pan. That was kinda fun.

I won movie tickets. Also, my babysitter had no plans on short notice. I get to go see a movie.

Today I finished my plant design project, which was worth 25% of my grade, an hour before it was due. I've been living on McDonald's. And coffee. And sometimes McDonald's coffee.

Point is, the semester's finally winding down.

1) i went to my sisters house to try the sweetened-condensed-milk-boiled-in-the-can caramel and it was food of the gods!

B) i just filled up my car with gas for $22!

I'm on holidays, and although unemployed, it means I have time to chillax, read, play computer games, and make enchiladas for lunch. THAT makes me smile.

I think the plan is to hand it off and buy tickets to something we actually want to see, after we eat our free dinner. :tongue:

Nothing really. Not that I had a bad day, I just didn't do anything that made me go, "Woo! Today has been a good day!"

Last night, I slept for more than four hours (9 in total). It was fucking amazing, and I am giving serious consideration to repeating the experience tonight.
I was able to do this because I've got nothing on my plate today. No essays, no classes, no work, nothing. Even better, it is nasty as Hell outside, so there's no reason to leave my comfortably heated dorm where I've got soothing folk music playing, a (recently) whole liter of Ketel One, and a copy of Persuasion by Jane Austen.
Yes, this is the sort of evening that almost makes you believe in a benevolent god.

i've been ill today, but turning on the tv and watching a best-of Mock The Week was kinda the highlight :P

Today I have discovered the outfit that maximizes cold-weather comfort. It consists of:

flannel shirt
sweat pants
Crocs with boot socks (the thick, warm kind)

Interestingly, the same outfit minimizes attractiveness. Even this is a blessing in disguise, though: if I'm not dressed in a way fit to leave the house...why should I bother leaving the house?

getting almost all of the rest of mom's crap out of the appartment she can no longer afford to rent and won't ever be able to go back to living in anyway because the attended care place she's stuck in now takes all of her railroad retirement check. anyway we've got till the 15th to get the place completely cleaned out and we've only got one folding cot, the curtains on the windows and half a dozzen now empty foot lockers to get out of there.

and supposedly, hopefully, we'll get those moved out of there today.

Well, it started kind of bad, with me and my BF getting into an argument about I'm not even quite sure what when he was driving me to the station... but it's been picking up. Nice chats with colleagues and a good review with my team leader made me feel better. :)

Banoffe pie is pie with a layer of bannas and then a layer of toffee on top. Name is a combination of BANana and tOFFE. There may be chocolate involved somewhere, I'm not entirely sure, I'm not a big fan of bananas so I don't tend to eat banoffe pie.

Difficult to say; either the fact my injured knee is noticable recovered, and less inflamed, or the conversation with my Carolingian tutor, who told me my essay was doctoral thesis standard, but not suited to undergraduate level, and that I was immeasurably better than the rest of the seminar.

I found some old textbooks behind a cabinet I was moving in the garage, while looking for my plastic Christmas tree - some of my old favorites, including one of my original books on music theory and Ammerman's "Classics of Analytical Philosophy," the 1965 first editon, complete with such favorites as Quine's "Two Dogmas of Empiricism" and Grice and Strawson's "In Defense of a Dogma." It's dogmatastic! :)
