One more reason not to go to KFC. (w/ pics)

Or maybe this is another reason to go.

Three KFC employees in hot water for dip in restaurant's sink

ANDERSON — A trio of Anderson girls are in hot water with their fast-food employer for dipping themselves into the sink used to clean dishes.

One of the girls bathing in the sink at the Anderson Kentucky Fried Chicken posted the photos on the Internet and after management learned of them, all three were suspended today, said Cheri, assistant manager at the restaurant. She declined to give her last name.

“The girls are being reprimanded for it,” Cheri said.

She said she learned of the photos, which had been posted publicly on the girl’s MySpace.com social Web site, during the dinner rush today.

Cheri did not give the names of the girls.

The photos, which appeared to have been posted late last month, showed the girls bathing in the deep commercial sink and posing in their underwear and swimwear.

“I was in shock when I saw it,” Cheri said.

She said no manager was on duty when the photos were likely taken, when the three girls closed the restaurant themselves. In her more than a year at the store, Cheri said she hadn’t had any incidents similar to this.

The photos had been filed under a gallery called “KFC moments.” Captions for the photos included “haha KFC showers!” and “haha we turned on the jets.”

On her MySpace page, the girl lists herself as a 17-year-old worker at the Anderson KFC.

“I’m a KFC worker, they are my best friends and my family,” she said on her site.

Although the pictures were available to the public earlier today, all of the photos on the girl’s site were restricted to private viewers tonight.

The three are not the first to cleanse themselves in a fast-food sink and get in trouble because of the Internet.

In August a 25-year-old Burger King worker in Xenia, Ohio, was fired after a four-minute video of him taking a birthday bath in the restaurant’s sink appeared on MySpace.com and YouTube.com.

The spiky-haired Timothy Tackett became a minor celebrity earning national news attention for the video, in which he appeared to be naked in the sink

As a worker in the food service industry, I will admit that wacky shit goes on all the time behind the closed kitchen doors, but I have never seen anything like this.

Its humorous, and at the same time pretty unsanitary.

The saddest thing is they would have gotten away with it if they didnt put it on myspace.

*the pics are funny though*

Well, food as high in trans fats as KFC tends to be is pretty unhealthy to be eating ANYWAY; I don't know the specifics, but I can't help but think that stuff like this is like adding a drop of water to a flood.

In any case, though, it's dumb enough for them to do this in the first place, let alone post it on the Internet, when you've got a job as dead-end as one in the fast food industry. What were they thinking?

They're 17. They're just having some fun. It's not like they've five kids to feed and they're throwing away the only shot at employment that they'll ever have.

Well, what if other employers are disinclined to hire them because of this? I was 18 when I had my first job at an ice cream stand in the Gander Mall, and I never did dumb crap like that. Seeing as how future employers tend to ask past employers about performance you'd think a first job would be even more important to maintain self-control in.

I can say from experience that most employers have very little interest in what kind of "kiddie jobs" you had.

Well their names aren't being released for one. And two, I don't think they'll be listing anyone from KFC as a reference on their resumes from now on. So that kinda negates any possibility that a future employer will not hire any of the three girls because of their job performance at KFC.

I guess Don Cherry's must have unusually high standards then, because my sister says she's worked there and though she wasn't fired she's seen her co-workers get fired for less than that.

(This was part of a conversation about some Irving restaurant waitress losing our order when it was really busy there...)

Well, maybe it's that within the group of people dumb enough to do it there's going to be some dumb enough to announce it. As Albert Einstein once put it: "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not so sure about the former..."

I was disappointed with the photographs. I expected them to be better looking. What I think is disgusting is that the girls weren't concerned about their own hygeine. Chicken fat and industrial detergent doesn't sound like winning combination to me. I think they definitely should be fired because they broke the rules which are in place to protect the health of the public. They also shouldn't have been mucking around at work when they're expected to be responsible. It's funny, and they did it for the lulz, but they have to accept the consequences.

I am of the view that all three should be given the sack, and not just suspended. Such a thing is not only completely unhygenic, but will also bring KFC into disrepute.

If I didn't hate them so much because they give you shitty pieces of chicken, I would be going to KFC right now to support them.

what I am wondering is where was the manager/Asst manager/shift supervisor.

I am doubting even stupid teens are willing to swim in a sink with dishes and food in it.

So i am guessing they drained the sink gave it a quick wipe down and fill it back up then went for a swim.

also if they sue the 3 sink system it is likely still sanitary provided they didn't swim in the third sink.

Eww.

How could one do it? These sinks are dirty even after they've supposedly been cleaned, and much more dirty otherwise. Although it beats toilet waste by a wide margin. Though one tends to get pretty insensitive to dirt of all kinds after working with it for a good while, I know that by myself. But still, hard to imagine enjoying getting yourself greasy.
