KOTH on AS?

Why is King of the Hill going to be on Adult Swim? Adult Swim is supposed to be a network that broadcast shows that no one else will broadcast, such as Robot Chicken and Moral Orel. Almost everyone likes King of the Hill. I don't mind KoTH from time to time, but I just don't see why AS would pick it up. Anyone else confused about this?

Well I suppose it has to make some money so it will buy shows that more people will watch thus increasing revenue. While Adult Swim may have started out showing cult shows it has fallen into the trap of going more and more mainstream.

It did have Futurama for awhile, that pulled me in. Then Comedy Central picked it up, and I don't watch Adult Swim anymore. So yeah, Blouman Empire's right. They probably want/need the revenue.

I like King of the Hill. The first few seasons were pretty good...I'd choose KOTH or Futurama over the Simpsons any day, let alone shit like new seasons of Family Guy.

lol nice, here in Australia we have a channel called Bio it was a spin off from the History channel that had the TV series called Biography, and while the channel originally started showing shows about people and other such biographies, they now broadcast such shows like Judge Judy, David Letterman, Airline (both the good version and the American one) and RPA. They still have various shows that go with their original reason for starting but have changed.

Robot Chicken, Venture Brothers, the first season of Sealab 2021, the occasional episode of Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law, and the rescue of Futurama and the introduction of The Boondocks are why I watched AS when I had cable. The amount of just plain garbage programmed around those gems was approaching intolerable when I got rid of cable. I've never understood why Aqua Teen Hunger Force is even remotely funny, and Saul of the Mole Men, Tom Goes to the Mayor along with everything else those two charlatans dream up, and stuff like Squidbillies are just plain awful. Painful to watch, and offensive, not to anyone's decency, but to the very notion of humor itself.

King of the Hill has occasional moments, but the comedy there is so blatant and so telegraphed, it's kinda sad. The animation and drawing is subpar, too.

Of course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

I love King of the Hill. Besides, "mainstream" stuff like KotH and Family Guy helps brings in revenue for weirder stuff like Superjail, which is awesome.

Also, I like pretty much everything ever shown on Adult Swim, even things like Assy McGee and Tim and Eric's stuff. I guess I have a diverse sense of humor.

I never liked the Simpsons...new Family Guy is very hit or miss...some are good and I think to myself "Have they finally gone back to being funny?!" and then they kick me in the balls again.

King of the Hill ranks far below Simpsons for me. The jokes are just so predictable and dull.

Never seen Tom goes to the Mayor, but Robot Chicken is generally pretty good. It feeds my ADD well.

Yes the new ones are hit and miss, they are showing the first season again over here, and I am laughing out loud much more frequently, so many quotes I had forgotten.

Well you don't want to see it, it is shit, shame Adult Swim got rid of Sealab2021 to show it.

With the amount of Family Guy and American Dad they run, King of the Hill is what brings this on? Is there a time on cable when Family Guy isn't playing? Robot Chicken and Morel Oral are their original programs, but since its inception they've really just been an animation block for 'adults' (thus, adult swim). The only real requirement is that it not be a 'kiddie cartoon.' The only 'out of place' thing about adding King of the Hill is that it isn't a cartoon that derives its humor from being 'loud' or obnoxious. (don't get me wrong, I like some of the loud and/or obnoxious shows on AS, but it's not a prerequisite for me).

KotH - meh.
Simpsons - usually funny
Family Guy - It has its moments - but it isn't worth watching the show to see those moments.
Futurama - best cartoon ever
Aqua Teen Hunger Force - WTF???

My friends and I have a saying...somewhere, sometime, Family Guy is always playing.

Family Guy is playing on Fox, TBS, AS adn MyTV12 here in North Carolina. Over-exposure will be it's 2nd and final downfall.

It is bad over summer in Australia in regards for the Simpsons. Last January over the course of a week various TV stations broadcast 65 hours of Simpsons shows.

non internet connected Texans like it. mostly because they never heard all those jokes about Texans before. Seems the rumors that we always carry a firearm and have a short temper seems to dissuade the rest of the world from telling us these sterotypes.

King of the Hill, despite its relative funniness as perceived by any audience, is at least bolstered by interesting characters and some pretty decent social commentary now and then. It also has continuity behind its episodes, which doesn't really stick in most popular cartoons these days.

Some people simply prefer progression to repetition. I think Futurama had a healthy mix of the two, and that's part of why it's my favourite animated show in about the last twenty years.

They tended to be good at finding balances in most respects, I always thought.

For example, it was typically a very funny show, but then, occasionally, it would have something really sad to kick you in the ass.

I mean, I still sniffle a little bit whenever I hear "Walking on Sunshine."

Yeah, those episodes are the ones where Seth McFarlane returns and adds some good stuff, leading you to believe the show's maybe returning to the good old days...and then they just let you down hard.

King of the Hill ranks far below Simpsons for me. The jokes are just so predictable and dull.

I kind of like the everyday humor in KOTH; older Simpsons is easily my preferred choice out of the two, but I'd choose pretty much any KOTH over the newer episodes now thaSimpsons has long since jumped the shark.

KotH isn't retarded? It's set in TEXAS.

Okay, okay, that was a bit harsh, but still. The characters are utterly stupid. The other three guys are so embarrassingly predictable that they may as well not bother writing them. We know Boomhauer will mumble, Bill will be pathetic and Dale will invent a conspiracy or act selfishly. In addition, Hank will be obstinate and be shown either wrong or right, depending on the issue. Luann needs to be shot, Peggy will be idealistic and be shown to be either wrong or right, depending on the issue, and Bobby will be an idiot.

It's just a matter of the topic that the show's episodes differ.

Shame the movies are shite, though.

The show isn't meant to be a movie. They're not shit, they're too long. No TV show can sustain a movie without a drastic re-imagining. I don't know why Groening and Cohen decided to do that with the post-cancellation production, but it's good to see new stuff, even if it's not the traditional episodic material.

The show deserves it's usual format, not movies.

No, I'd say you're spot on. AS has added a lot of shitty stuff, used to be mostly anime back when they started, now the closest they come is shin-chan which I actually like.

Adult Swim is for cartoons rated TV-PG and up. it's on a station that is normally aimed at the children 12 and younger. KotH fits that Faux Rating thus it's on Adult Swim.

Adult swim is not a network, but a segment of shows. nor is it Supposed to broadcast shows that no one else will broadcast, just shows rated TV-PG and up.
