With the Playoffs just around the corner, Who are you rooting for in the Playoffs, who do you think will win the AFC/NFC championship games to make it to the Super Bowl?
As for my answer, they're all.... CAROLINA PANTHERS!
They were awesome last night against the Bucs! The Defense got alittle slack in third quarter, and they can't do that as they gear up for the Playoffs. The defense need to stay on top of the opposition team at all time!

The season still has three games left.
Thus, here are my projections, realising that three weeks still remain.
NFC division winners
East: New York Giants
North: Minnesota Vikings
South: Carolina Panthers
West: Arizona Cardinals
Wild cards: Tampa Bay, Atlanta
AFC division winners
East: New England Patriots
North: Pittsburgh Steelers
South: Tennessee Titans
West: Denver Broncos
Wild cards: Baltimore Ravens, Indianapolis Colts
Gold: Home field advantage throughout the playoffs; Silver: First round bye; Bronze: Number three seed in the conference, host of the worst wild card team.
I see the New York Giants losing to Carolina in the NFC Championship Game, while Tennessee beats Pittsburgh in the AFC title game. Then, I see Tennessee beating Carolina in the Super Bowl.

As a Vikings fan myself, I have to tell you that they have no chance of taking the division title. With Gus Frerotte injured, we have to rely on Jackson who could just barely beat the Lions. It looks like the Williamses may get a reprieve, but it's not certain yet (at last I knew). Also, Chicago's remaining sechdule is much easier than Minnesota's (including having to finish the season against the Giants). With a lot of luck, Minnesota might beat Arizona and finish 9-7. More likely they'll lose all remaining games and go 8-8 yet again.

Yes, I know their defense is terrible. And they're down to the 5th string running back, for shit's sake (thanks again, Detroit!). But if Tatum can regain his swagger from a couple of years ago and they can get the Bailey brothers back on the defensive side, with the offense they have, they've got a decent shot at making a splash, at least.

Giants will win it all again. They looked worse last year, and then they beat the Pats and gave them the only suitable award for Spygate.
As far as the opponents go: AFC east will probably come down to Pats vs. Jets. I highly doubt that either Carolina or the Vikings will do anything against the Giants, and we've all seen what happens when Dallas plays the G-men. Depending on how Tennessee does, we will probably see a Giants-Titans Superbowl. Though, if things go right, and God decides to show the world a smile and be just, we'll see the Jets and the Giants in the Superbowl, and New York will take home supreme bragging rights. Though to be fair, the city might end up in flames.

Teams almost never repeat and win Super Bowls, and if they do repeat they normally don't win.

Well, teams returning to the Super Bowl after having won it the previous year win more often than they lose. By my count only the Cowboys and Redskins have won a Super Bowl one year and then lost it the next year, while the Packers, Dolphins, Steelers (twice!), 49ers, Cowboys, Broncos and Patriots have all had repeats. So if the Giants do make it to the Super Bowl, historically speaking their odds to win it look good.

On the flipside, who's going to get the second overall pick? Detroit, unless it (wait for it...) wins out, is going to get their shot at Sam Bradford... However, with Cincinatti, St. Louis, Kansas City, and possibly Seattle and Oakland, clogging up the rear of the league, who is going to vault to the bottom of the lowest valley and snag the 2nd pick?
Given my frustration with them, I'm going to say Kansas City... although, they do play Cincinatti in what's certain to be the Stooper Bowl in 2 weeks...

The Eagles have to win out (not easy with two division games left), AND they need help...though I forget who has to lose, probably someone in the NFC South.
Is there serious talk of Reid being fired? I know I'd like to keep a guy who has gotten the team to the Conference championship game in four of the last eight seasons.

There has been talk of Reid being fired since his utterly piss poor coaching performance in the super bowl against the Patriots (the eagles fucking had that game! and a bunch of bad play calls ruined it).
And talks of reid being fired came up again when he benched mcnabb a few games back (you want your team to make it to the playoffs, but you bench your star quarterback in the 2nd quarter when they were only down by 3?? wtf?)
And i believe tampa bay has to lose and someone else has to lose for them to get in.

So, Giants Vs. Carolina is coming up, both of them are 11-3. Personally I think Carolina will win and take top seed in the NFC.
I would like to see Carolina go all the way. That team is one of the most underrated in the league.
So right now it looks as if Carolina is going to get whooped by Arizona. Also, the Ravens beat out the Titans. So, for this second round of playoffs, we have left the Steelers vs Chargers at Heinz Field, and the Eagles vs the Giants, with the Giants having the home field advantage, I believe.
The winner of the Steelers/Chargers game will face the Ravens next week for the AFC Championship. The winner of the Eagles/Giants game will likely play against Arizona, unless Carolina can score 23 unanswered points in the next 11 minutes or so.
My predicts for the rest of the playoffs are:
AFC Round 2
Steelers over Chargers. 24-13
The Steelers have home field advantage, and the best defense in the NFL. They will be able to block the run very effectively against the Chargers, especially since LaDamian Tomlinson is going to be out.
AFC Championship
Steelers over Ravens 17-14
This would be a very intense game as both are divisional rivals, as well as defensive powerhouses. To be honest, I will be worried about the game, as a Steelers fan, as the Ravens like to go after Big Ben like nothing else. However, i think our defense will outplay theirs, and that will open up a few opportunities to score on turnovers.
NFC Round 2
Eagles over Giants. 20-13
I think this will be the biggest upset of the playoff as Donovan McNabb proves that he has all the right stuff to take out last years Super Bowl Champions. Since the release of WR Plaxico Buress, and that whole mess, the Giants seem to be a little off step. I think that Eli Manning will preform well, but the rest of the team will fail to keep up with him.
NFC Championship
Eagles over Cardinals(granted that the cardinals keep their 30-7 lead and win tonight) Score: 23-21
I think this game will come down to a field goal. The Cardinals are doing excellent this year as Kurt Warner has really come alive to show that this team is nothing to joke about, as it has been in the past. However, I have a feeling about the Eagles that says that David Aker will kick the winning field goal with just seconds left, to make the game 23-21.
Super Bowl
Steelers over Eagles 27-17
This is the game that every resident of Pa would be hoping for; a cross state rival, spilling over into the Super Bowl. Earlier in the season the Eagles managed to hand a whipping to the Steelers, as did every other NFC East team. However, since that time the Steelers have improved to have the best defense in the league, and a record of 12-4. I think that the game, for the first half will be rather even, as both teams like to play a very physical game. However, in the third quarter, Rothlisberger will give up a few turnover that will allow the eagles to take a lead. That being said, the Steelers have proven that they are a 4th quarter team, time and again. They will come back and score several times on the tired Eagles defense and their defense will manage to hold of McNabb from making any more scores. They will then ascend to win their teams unprecedented 6th Super Bowl ring.
Forsakia
11-01-2009, 07:36
Chargers over Steelers, just a gut feeling mainly. Chargers problem has been getting QB pressure, against Pittsburgh's rubbish O-line that's not a problem so their defense will be tougher than usual. Add into that Roethlisberger recovering from a concussion and it's not exactly ideal.
I think Chargers about 17-14. Essentially I like Chargers D vs Steelers O more than Steelers over Chargers O.
Eagles over Giants. 20-13
I think this will be the biggest upset of the playoff
That just happened. Cardinals beating Carolina.
