Let's talk candy canes. Yeah, candy canes! :)

Candy canes come in many varieties and flavors. Did you know that? I didn't, at least until I went to see a ballet when I was a kid, around Christmas time, many years ago. On a banquet table in the lobby of the theater was a bouquet of canes, from which I plucked one, putting it in my pocket to enjoy during the show. Unwrapping in in the dark, I was surprised to find that the cane was no ordinary cane - not only was it *not* peppermint, but its taste was very nearly pleasant! Imagine that! :tongue:

So yeah, candy canes: they come in a rapidly-expansing assortment of flavors, exotic and mundane, and vary substantially in quality, from "Ugh. Maybe I can flavor some cocoa with this thing" to "hey, that's edible!"

So what's your favorite flavor of candy cane? Do you have fond candy cane-related memories or interesting recipes involving candy canes? Poll on the way. :)

Candy canes should not be given to children under the age of 16. They can be enjoyed into a rather pointy shape which could be used as a stabbing weapon against other children. I believe candy cane consumption should be preceded by a safety course and written/verbal test so the consumer of legal age is aware of the dangers of candy canes.

Aw, be reasonable now. :tongue: Surely there must be some good in those other canes, even if they don't meet your definition of a candy cane - butterscotch, for example, can never be bad, could it?

hershey's dark chocolate candy canes are the best ones i've tasted so far.

I go to Hammond's every year, just before Xmas, and buy handmade candycanes. Mmm.

I dearly loved cherry candy canes when I was little, but I haven't had one in years and years, so I might think they're too sweet nowadays. Plain ol' peppermint ones are always nice, if unexciting, though.
