According to the picture there were originally three regions and 16 nations.

Originally, nations were spawned in 'The South Pacific'. Since this was coded in from day one, there wasn't a chance for someone to have set up a region as there were none. Perhaps Max is a fan of musicals.

As the population grew, it was decided to expand the number of spawning regions. Since we already had 'The South Pacific', it made sense to add North, West, East, and "Central". I believe that while there were nations in regions with those names, the total population was something around 20. We had around 70k nations at the time, so they kinda had their regions yanked out from under them. However, this was before we had Founders, and none of them were Delegates, so the loss for them was minimal.

I'm pretty sure the additional Pacifics were [violet]'s idea.

Though even in the feeders themselves, there's a debate between the south and the central.

Unfortunately, I don't remember where I left my pants. :p
