Advice For A novice?

I'm in the process of purchasing a hyper-sport bike.

I've narrowed it down to two choices. (Not like there are any other choices, though.)

Either the '08 Hayabusa, or the '08 ZX-14 Ninja.

There are pros and cons to both bikes, and I've read at least twenty different articles on comparisons of the bike.

Anybody have an suggestions for me?

Buy something used so when you lay it down you don't get the "oh shit" feeling you'd get with a new bike.

Go for the Ninja. Hayabusa pissed me off in any DoA games, where my pals would mercilessly thrash me with his bastard moves -_-

How many years experience have you had riding? If none, or less than 5 years, you will put your first motorcycle down when riding on the street. It happens to everyone.

Also where do you live? Urban? Rural? Are you going to have a safe enough place to use this power (highways, less traffic)?

It's easy to let any sportbike get away from you, but especially a super bike like the busa or 14. They both go a quarter of a mile in 9 seconds. Just think about that. Now think about hitting a car within that quarter mile. There's a good chance you're not coming back.

I may sound like an old crabby man, but I'm 23, and I've been there. I bought my first motorcycle (ever) when I turned 18 with very little riding experience. I never bothered to take the motorcycle safety course, and I proceeded to wreck a month after getting the bike. It was only a ninja 500, but I still wrecked doing 80 around a turn. I'm lucky to be alive. Now if I had a liter bike in that situation, I would have been doing 130 and I would most certainly not be typing this to you right now.

That incident taught me a lot though. It taught me respect for any motorcycle, no matter the size. And it taught me to be a better rider.

Just some food for thought, and good luck with your purchase.

Also where do you live? Urban? Rural? Are you going to have a safe enough place to use this power (highways, less traffic)?Rural, very light traffic. I have to travel over sixty miles just to find a bike dealership that sells them.

Maybe.

I should have taken it a while ago.

I learned that when I totalled my old dirt bike. (No, that's not the bike I wrecked on that I was talking about above. The one I wrecked on was an '04 ZX-12R.)

Just some food for thought, and good luck with your purchase. Thanks a lot. :)
