Every forum I've been part of has a recipe thread. Since I'm moving out, I decided I might as well get your advice, gentle people from NSG, on cheap recipes for lazy, stingy people like me.
Yup, you heard me, this is me trying to make NSG my personal cookbook.
The advantage is, it'll become EVERYONE'S cookbook. >.>
So... I'm all ears. :D
How cheap and easy do you want it?

Pasta. All you have to do is boil that. I like to add a pinch of salt to the water while boiling as well.
Beef ramen (drained but with a wee bit of broth left) and a bit of Worcestershire sauce, that's always good if you use the right amount of sauce.
I'll post more as I think about it.

chicken cutlets:
buy chicken cutlets
bread it (dip in milk, then into flour, then back into milk, then into seasoned bread crumbs
fry in vegitable oil or other light oil (canola, etc) till golden brown on both sides (only flip once)
drain on paper towels
If you don't have a thermometer for the oil, there are two easy ways to tell when it is at the right temp. A 1" square piece of bread should brown fairly quickly, or you can take one drop of water and wait for it to pop
this can be used for fish as well (pollock is almost always cheap and pretty comparable to cod)
Parmesean chicken tenders:
bread chicken tenders as above, but mix about a cup of grated parmesean into the bread crumbs
broil about 5-10 minutes each side
honey nut chicken tenders
take a few handfuls of honey bunches of oats. Crunch up really well. Mix with breadcrumbs. Add a tablespoon or two of extra virgin olive oil.
bread the chicken
broil about 5-10 minutes each side
The oil will let it crisp, so it tastes more like fried chicken without the fat.
Hamburgers:
take ground beef. throw in some grill seasoning (available from McCormic in lots of flavors) and an egg. make patties. Cook.
Tuna burgers:
Use about a can and a half per person (chunk white in water). Drain tuna. Add an egg and shredded cheese of your choice. Add French's Fried Onions. Make into patties. Cook at 350 for 45 minutes to an hour.
For this one, either grease up the pan really well or use parchment paper...there's almost no fat, so they will stick.

I recommend Yootopia's Delicious Salmon Curry Thing for fish delights -
Ingredientes :
- Some salmon, cut into pieces
- Some curry spices
- Some extra cumin or coriander or whatever you have
- Rita (yogurt + cucumber and a bit of mit)
- A naan bread for each person (garlic is best, normal is fine, Peshwara is for dirty communists, unless you're eating it with a korma)
Method :
- Wash your hands so your food doesn't taste of single
- Pick up salmon
- Place this salmon in curry spices, rub spices all over
- Put in frying pan (salmon is oily like the UAE, no need for extra stuff needed)
- Flip a couple of times so it's not all burnt on one side but tepid and horrific on the other
- Sort naan bread out
- Make rita if you've not bought it (it's a piece of piss, you just add a tiny splash of water to the yoghurt and mix it with diced cucumber and a bit of mint)
- Put naan on plate, followed by salmon, followed by rita and then your leaf of whatever's spare.
- Eat
Other fish can be used if you're some kind of pleb, but salmon is best.

Put curry in everything to make it taste better.

Not bad advice though I'd switch curry for sweet Thai chili sauce.
The absolute easiest meal to make is a can of soup spiced up, so...
1 can tomato soup
Thai sweet chili sauce
Pepper and salt to taste
You can try another sauce, I often add HP sauce or Worcestershire sauce if I have it.
Add vodka as well.
This is the ultimate in I can't be bothered to feed myself food, if you have bread laying around, it's almost a complete meal.

Ok, some serious, easy cheep recipes.
Mock Chicken Fried Rice
Cut chunks of chicken (raw now), no bones
Soy sauce
Oil
1 package of frozen veggies (I like the carrot, corn, and pea mix)
About a cup or 2 of cooked rice
1 to 2 eggs
Wee bit 'o butter
Salt and pepper
1. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a frying pan (with lid, you'll need the lid)
2. cook the chicken chunks though, salt and pepper the suckers to taste
3. Add soy sauce (a bit, usually enough to coat the chicken) plus whatever else you like for flavor and put the lid down. Cook for 6 minutes, stiring after every 2 minutes.
4. In the mean time, place the frozen veggies in a microwave safe bowl with about a 1/2 cup of water. Nuke for 4 minutes. Add a bit 'o butter and pepper and stir, nuke for two more minutes or until hot. Drain.
5. Toss rice and veggies into the frying pan with the chicken, mix it well. Push everything up to the edge so you've got a nice clear spot in the center.
6. Add a wee bit 'o butter to grease the pan with, crack the eggs into the space and scramble. When they start turning a solid yellow (aka scrambled eggs), mix them in with everything else.
7. Add a bit of soy sauce to taste, close the lit for a minute or three then dump into a bowl and enjoy.
Harvest Apple Mash
1 large sweet potatoes, peeled and diced
1 tablespoon butter
2 tablespoons white sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
1/2 Granny Smith apple - peeled, cored and sliced
1 tablespoon milk
1. Place the sweet potato in a medium saucepan and fill with enough water to cover the potatoes. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to medium, and simmer for about 20 minutes or until tender. Remove from heat, drain and set aside.
2. Melt butter over low heat in a small saucepan. Mix in the sugar, cinnamon and allspice. Add the apple slices, cover, and let simmer for 5 minutes, or until the apples are tender. Mix the apple mixture into the drained sweet potatoes along with the milk. Mix well using an electric mixer or just a fork until potatoes are mashed.
And when all else fails:
Whatchagot Stew
It's just what it sounds like. Take what'cha got, put it in a pot, add water, and let it stew.

Two super easy fish recipes that sound weird but are quite tasty:
Place a halibut steak in a baking pan. Spread with mayonnaise and sprinkle with garlic salt to taste. Broil 5-7 minutes, flip fish over, repeat whole process.
Marinade salmon fillet(s) in store bought teriyaki sauce for at least one hour, then bake at 350 F for 20-30 minutes depending on the size/thickness of your fillet and how well done you like your salmon.
For easy clean up, line the baking pan with foil before putting the fish in it.

Ok, now a serious ASD recipe.
First, get a crockpot (WalMart has small crockpots, suitable for one person for a ridiculously cheap price, something like $10-15).
Now at the store get
1 tiny box (@ 8 oz.) chicken stock (Swanson's has little boxes)
1 boneless, skinless chicken breast, cut in 1" chunks
1 small potato, peeled and cut in chunks
1 small onion, peeled and cut in chunks
1 carrot, peeled and cut in chunks (optional, I think carrots make the dish too sweet)
Salt, Pepper, sage, thyme, garlic powder (or diced fresh garlic) to taste
Spread the onion and potato (and carrot, if you want) in the bottom of the crockpot. Strew chunked up chicken on top. Add seasonings. Pour stock over the whole thing. If the stock covers everything, fine, if not add water until the everything is just covered. Stir. Cover crockpot. Turn on and allow to cook for as long as the crockpot direction book says. Serve the results with a salad and a nice, crusty bread.
(you can substitute stew beef for chicken and beef stock for chicken stock, use oregano, basil, marjoram and bay leaf instead of sage and thyme).
The nice thing about crockpots is that there is a huge variety of things that you can make with them, most of them inexpensive, and you don't have to be a gourmet chef to turn out good food.

When my mom was first married in '59, she didn't have a stove. She made grilled cheese using her clothes iron. Just press and toast on each side.
Passable Tomato Basil soup
To 1 can of condensed tomato soup slowly add one half a can of water and one half a can of milk. Sprinkle on dried basil and garlic powder. Cook until warm. Serve with cheese crackers.
Lentil Soup
Cook 1 part lentils in 4 parts water. Add salt, onions, carrots, and celery to taste (or any veg you have on hand). Simmer for 30 minutes. Add rice or pasta (or serve with bread) to make it a complete protein. This is one of the cheapest healthy meal you can make. I lived on this for months when I was at my poorest. My total food budget was $8 a week.
Toasted Cheese
Take any bread (crusty french loaf if you can get it) and slice it moderately thick. Put cheese on top. Place under broiler until cheese is bubbly. For variety, you can put onions, tomatoes, or some other veg under the cheese before broiling.
Soup Bake
Brown some ground meat. Place in a casserole dish (a used pie tin will work too). Add a can of alphabet soup or vegetable soup (do not dilute). Top with canned biscuits and bake at 375 degrees until biscuits are golden brown.

Roast Swan with Chaudon Sauce
INGREDIENTS:
1 swan
Olive oil
DIRECTIONS:
With your hands or a pastry brush, coat the entire outside of a cleaned & gutted swan (being sure to reserve the giblets for the Chaudon sauce) with olive oil. Roast on either a spit or in an oven. Roast until done, basting often with broth or drippings. Carve into serving pieces and serve with Chaudon sauce.
Chaudon Sauce:
Swan giblets
Salt
Broth
Unseasoned toasted breadcrumbs
Ginger
Galingale
Red Wine Vinegar
Wash the blood from the giblets, and while still wet, sprinkle with a little salt. Place in a pot, cover with water and boil until done. Remove, drain, & cool. Chop the giblets into small pieces; place giblets and the broth, spices, & breadcrumbs in a food processor (or any equivalent device) and combine into a smooth gravy-like sauce. Strain if necessary. Place in a sauceboat, add salt if necessary, and bring to a soft boil. Reduce heat to a simmer & add a little vinegar for a slight tartness. Serve with the roasted swan.
Cheap and simple Receipies?
hmmm...
By chicken (say KFC) take out what you will eat first then bag the rest in portions and toss into the freezer. do not let it cool down first (yeah, I know it's an energy drain) this freezes the chicken with as much juices inside and when you reheat them, they're nice and tender and not cardboard like.
then there are what I call Simple Sandwiches. bread, spread, meat, cheeze, and a pickle on the side.
then I have my Meat Tarts.
Make meatloaf... alot of it. but instead of putting it in a loaf pan, you pack it into alot of Tart pans. wrap in foil and freeze. then on days when you don't feel like cooking, you just pop one or two (depending on your appitite) into the oven and cook it.

chop garlic and fry until golden in the bottom of a sauce pan
add the tomato puree -- careful! it will spatter!
add the can of water
add about a tablespoon of salt and as many grinds of pepper as "looks good'
add shredded basil, oregan, and rosemary
cover and simmer at least an hour
Use a ladle or two over pasta -- freeze the huge amount left in single servings in ziplock bags.
Spicy chicken noodle bowl
take some cauliflower and split up the heads,
take some brocoli and do the same,
then if you want some extra kick add a few shakes of cayenne pepper

I can offer you the recipe for sprouts a la Rejis:
1 package of deep-frozen sprouts,
2 slices of bread
some oil
Preparation:
cut the sprouts in half or quarters, heat up the oil in a frying pan, put the sprouts in and when they stat getting dark, add the slices of bread as crumbs. Wait and occasionally stir until the sprouts are sufficiently dark. Enjoy with a caffeinated drink of your choice.

Why not use TV dinners and soup that all you have to do is add water and microwave it for 3 minutes?

I'm pretty fond of the jambalyia recipe on the back of the safeway rice. I think it's:
2 TBS of olive oil
1/3 cup diced onion
3 cloves of garlic
8 oz. of italian sausage
probably the same amount of shelled shrimp
two cups of water
one cup of rice
1 1/2 cup of salsa
bell pepper if you like food that tastes like poison, I don't.
You saute the onion and garlic (minced) in the olive oil for a bit, then add the rice, water and sausage until it boils, then simmer and cover the whole bit for 15 minutes, then add the salsa and shrimp and simmer for another 5 minutes stirring now and then.
I do it once, takes half an hour, makes enough to get me by for a few days.
I do the same thing with this turkey chili recipe (http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Simple-Turkey-Chili/Detail.aspx). Though I chop in chili peppers and add cinnamon and then let it simmer for two hours. Last time I did that it was awesome.
I rotate chicken and salmon recipes from that site as well. When salmon is on sale. I bought some tilapia recently but haven't found a recipe that really grabs me.
I used to do the pasta thing, but once a day usually late in the day. That, uh, didn't work out great.

Sounds good, but where would I find gazelle?
If mule deer is an acceptable substitute, I could - um - acquire one fairly easily as long as there's no game warden around... It's 25-50 cents per shot depending on caliber. :p

1. Brown a pound of ground beef
2. Boil some noodles
3. Drain noodles, combine with beef
4. Season to taste

No... As bad as Akane's cooking, I'm fairly sure that C-ko's is much, much worse.
Akane's just takes out super powered martial artists. C-ko's can flatten the daughter of Superman and Wonder Woman! :eek2:

Pasta. All you have to do is boil that. I like to add a pinch of salt to the water while boiling as well.
The salt is quite mandatory, I can assure you.
Btw there's nothing easier than making tomato sauce, quod wiki.

Another easy ASD recipe
Quick and Delicious Pasta Sauce
One Medium Tomato per person.
One onion, diced
Garlic to taste
Fresh Basil chopped
Fres Parsley chopped
Bread Crumbs (Store bought)
Salt and Pepper
Put a large kettle of unsalted water on and bring it to a boil. When it comes to a boil turn it down to a simmer. With a pair of tongs, put one of the tomatoes in the water for about 30-60 seconds - this will make it easy to peel - then peel the tomato. Do this for each tomato. Chop the tomatoes, garlic cloves, etc.
In a medium to large skillet (depending on how much you want to make) heat some olive oil. When the oil is heated, add the onions and garlic - sweat them, do not carmelize. When the onion and garlic are soft, but not browned, add the tomatoes, parsley and basil. Stir until heated through, add salt and pepper. Just before serving, add about 1/4 1/3 cup bread crumbs - toss. Remove from heat. Pour over pasta of choice, toss. Cheese isn't really needed, but some grated mozzarella is good.
