"A barrage of tests proves the marijuana possessed potent psychoactive properties... Lead author Ethan Russo told Discovery News that the marijuana "is quite similar" to what's grown today."

Sounds like a quite enjoyable 'barrage of tests'...

EDIT: On a more serious note, is it all that surprising that ancient peoples were cultivating cannabis for drug use?

Sounds like smoking weed is more traditional than a nuclear family.

I fully expect conservatives worldwide to get behind the legalisation of weed, on a purely traditional basis.

... was found lightly pounded in a wooden bowl in a leather basket near the head of a blue-eyed Caucasian man who died when he was about 45.

Surely red-eyed?

What, other than it being recessive, caused the decline of blue eyes, I mean you almost wouldn't expect a blue-eyed person in the Gobi desert off China nearly 3, 000 years ago.

At a quid a pack from the Sainsbury's, though, a bit pricey.

Hey, I bought a pack from that very Sainsburys not two days ago.

They lasted ten minutes.

And to think, I could have downed a VK for the same price that very evening in Piper.

Aye, but Piper was a bit weak on Monday. That said I was absolutely caned by the time I went in and was a bit too eh tired for dancing or anything.

Nor would you expect him to be speaking a (almost) Celtic language.

Fuck yeah.

Best, I find, when you let the topping melt on your tongue.

What sort of flashy student does his shopping at Sainsbury's?

It's fucking freezing in Hull and the LIDL is a good 10 minute walk, as opposed to the Sainsbury, which is 5 mins tops for either me or Nadkor - also the Tesco has a pretty vast biscuit selection which can confused people who are very stoned.

Well, I was well gone by the time I got there but I know one of the bouncers so I got in without queueing, which is always nice. Ended up at some guys house and then deciding to run away after about 5 minutes.

Not my finest hour.

Roll on tomorrow and Welly.

Ever done a German Soc social?

Welly tomorrow for me involved Hayworth for £1 a drink beforehand, then knowing the bouncers at Welly and getting in free.

Aye my pal in Motherwell said that people have basically stopped using the pavement and are walking on the roads.

Even got an old bomb shelter in the back garden to use as a firing platform - landlord tried to bullshit to us that it was a garage despite it backing onto a concrete wall.

Eugh Pozition. The Welly is about the only decent club I've found which isn't a gay bar as well (Fuel has decent music but also means I get my arse touched by men - this is sad).

Eugh Pozition. The Welly is about the only decent club I've found which isn't a gay bar as well (Fuel has decent music but also means I get my arse touched by men - this is sad).

Basically me and friends knock about the following (and bear in mind we're in second year and have more experience of these things):
Piper
Welly
yo-yo at asylum
Sugar Mill (awesome if you're actually drunk, if you're not it's a pile of shit)
Haworth
Fusion
Mission (turbocharger? yes please)
Gardners Arms
barracuda
Pozition (if we're dragged there)
Revolution
Sanc

That's in no real order (although Sanc comes last because it's a bar not a club, it's just an awesome place to spend time so it can't be lumped in with the rest). Most likely to go to Sanc, Piper, Welly, and Haworth, but good nights can be had in the rest. Some decent gigs in the Adelphi and the Lamp, too.

I avoid Sugar Mill on the grounds that someone died there

And aye, saw Finley Quaye at the Adelphi and it was awesome. Fusion is a decent place to drink, and I sometimes go to asylum, but other than them, Sanc and a couple of others, yet to go to most of those places, although the Vodka Rev in York always has a massive queue for the bar, which put me off going to the one in Hull - same situation there?

And, to be honest, I don't mean to be rude or disrespectful to Yootopia at all, but I like to keep my real and online lives entirely separate. So, basically, I won't be adding him on facebook, or MSN, but I'll more than happily chat to him here about this sort of stuff.

Umm this is my thread and it can go away as easily as it appeared. I tried to ask nicely and ive posted many amusing news articles that had no point but that people enjoyed and commented on in an appropriate fashion. If your going to hijack my thread and be a dick about it to boot ill have it closed and like everything else in the world one bad apple will ruin the fun for everyone else.

Well, Sugar is good. If you're drunk. Really not so good if you're not.

Turns out she died because of a heart defect. Very sad that, really, nobody wants someone to die at that age.

You're in first year, check these places out. It's your duty.

Also Cannon Junction (ever seen the two trains that are under the railway bridge on Beverley Road? That's Cannon Junction). Dirt Cheap. Not the most welcoming place, but in a crowd you're sorted for very cheap drink!

Revs in Hull...usually there's a queue because they don't have enough staff. Tuesdays are good though. And they do the coin toss where if you get it right you get your order again for free. That can't be a bad thing.
