Which animal is worldwide more famous than you? Knut, the ice bear.

http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/discoblog/files/2008/12/knut.jpg

But now, he has to leave. The zoo can’t afford a larger cage and the cost of a female. We all know what females do cost. In times of crisis: drop your females!

The good news is that another home will be searched and that other zoo around Europe welcome the little white fellow.

Also, at first, when I saw the article name, I thought "Harry Potter", thinking that it was a joke.

As for making steaks out of Knut, better consult the Inuit on how best to cook them. I understand the liver is considered good eating, but you might want to check with medical sources, since some animals' livers can be poisonous to humans... :(

Which animal is worldwide more famous than you? Knut, the ice bear.

Since 1 Galleon is 493 Knuts and 1 Galleon is about 7.50 €, this places the value of Knut at about 0.02 €. Cheap, I'd say. Give me a couple of dozens, and keep the change.

Well, I've tried shark and even whale when I was little, so why not polar bear? It'd save them from extinction, too, if they were being farmed for meat and fur. Isn't that what people worry about?

Apparently, he is a narcissist who identifies more with humans than his fellow bears. So, he's like the anti-Mowgli. Only with bears in place of Indian villagers. And I guess that makes Thomas Dörflein a combination of Baloo and Raksha, and Peter Arras is Shere Khan.
The obvious solution to this problem is to send Knut out into the wild, where he will be rejected by polar bears for his human ways. Eventually he will return to Germany, kill Peter Arras and don a suit made of his skin, then escape into the wilds of Norway.

I wouldn't eat Knut liver. Bear liver is supposed to have toxic levels of vitamin A (yes, too much of any vitamin can be deadly).

Don't be coy. In two threads now, you have suggested that people (and you) go provoke animals, especially protected ones, in order to shoot them in so-called self defense. It's not self defense when you go in intending to shoot something, and wonder of wonders, shoot it.

its not like bears require much provoking. I have just as much right to go see them up close as anyone else.

now if it were something like deer id say it is likely he intentionally provoked the animal. only time Ive ever seen a deer really go at a person was when he had dumped a bunch of female deer pheromones on himself.

It's so nice to see you trying to wiggle out of what you've posted before. And deer can and do attack people for very little reason, though rarely -- are you sure you know what you're talking about?

http://www.ftthomas.org/Deer.html

Heck, I know a person in suburban NJ who had a buck crash through his sliding door and run around the house in a panic attacking everything, until it got shut in the bathroom. Animal control had to come tranquilize and put the animal down.

thus far the deer i've seen scurry off when i come by.
for what ever reason bears seem less likely to do that.
you get with in 20 feet of a bear he is likely going to take aggressive action.
A deer is likely to leave unless you corner it. (or the aforementioned pheromone case)
but rest assured if they did attack i normally have a rifle or a pistol on hand and i will be glad to put their head up as a trophy.

Ok. I was just under that impression since I read that the bear's habitat has been cut down and divided by men in the US. But maybe that's because i't was about the grizzly.

Here in Spain is forbidden to hunt the "oso cantábrico" since it was endangered not too long ago. Of course, this bear is basically only found in the Picos de Europa region.

My ex mother-in-law had a horrible car crash 3 winters ago while driving through a rural road in Ovid-Elsie, MI. She hit a deer square on. She totaled her car and had a nasty head injury that almost parlyzed her and she had to undergo theraopy for half a year.
