Message in bottle tossed off NJ in '69 found in NC
The Associated Press

NORTH HALEDON, N.J. A message in a bottle tossed into the ocean off Barnegat Bay has turned up in North Carolina - 39 years later. The note was sealed in a Schaefer beer bottle. It was dated Aug. 17, 1969 and read: "If found notify the North Haledon Fire Co. 2."

Mark Ciarmello and his 3-year-old daughter found the bottle along a beach in Corolla, N.C., in October. That's about 400 miles from where it was released.

The Downingtown, Pa., resident said he got on his cell phone, called North Haledon and e-mailed photos of the bottle to the firefighters.

No one is sure who tossed the bottle. But firefighters suspect it was during one of the many fishing trips that they used to take years ago.

So, who has put messages in a bottle before and send it out to sea? I've thought about it when I was younger, but I never did it. I wonder what would happen if I did it now.

No because that would be littering and the only thing keeping seagulls from world domination at the moment is our advanced glass making techniques.

I found one as a child but then I realized some idiot had let go of the bottle at the same beach :p

You're better off doing it in some desert island, caught in a big ocean flow. Then it will get somewhere.

Yes I have put messages in a bottle before and send it out to sea. That one time when I was stranded on a deserted island.

What if I use an air cannon?

What did it say?

Never on the sea, but when I was a kid I used to do that sort of stuff at a Claytor Lake, where my family sometimes went camping. So, if you've ever opened a coke bottle to find a letter saying, "You have butt fungus. Signed, Someone Who Is Looking At Your Butt." That was my fault, and I apologize for my youthful indiscretion.
Also, you should probably visit a proctologist about that butt fungus.

I swear I saw her pop in here not that long ago in fact according to her profile she was last here on the 2nd of December, and if the join date is based on American time than that means it was her 5th Anniversary.
