World AIDS Day

Quintessence of Dust

It is World AIDS Day (http://www.worldaidsday.org/) today. I am doing some stuff (collecting donations, then going to a vigil and a couple of events later in the week): are you doing anything for it? Will you at least be wearing a ribbon? And, what should be done to contribute to defeating AIDS?

I will be job hunting! Also getting my BAHA repaired because it got knocked from it's bolt and landed on the concrete floor of my basement.

But I will have a moment of silence for those who died of AIDs.

I will wear a ribbon. I'd talk to my students about it if they were older. I'm sure my friends and I will discuss it at length (most of my friends live in San Francisco) and I may donate money.

I'd like to do some volunteer work during the summer when I'm off from teaching, maybe delivering meals for ARIS.

I think I'll try to do something, but more than likely I will sleep all day and then work....

I didn't realise it was world AIDS day until I turned the cricket on and saw the red ribbons.. Was a bit late at that stage. I spared a thought for all the people affected by it though.

Close the pools - stop the AIDS!

Incidentally, I'm going to a swimming competition just today, in only a couple hours.

And, what should be done to contribute to defeating AIDS?
Not had it. GET IN THERE.

AIDS for me is shared between humans by careless behaviour. I like to focus my charitable donations on childrens charity or diseases where more knowledge is needed on how to avoid it instead of knowledge needed upon how to cure it.

Prevention is always better than the cure. For aids just by not sharing needles (and other blood items) and protecting yourslef dose the trick as almost every new vicitim breaks these preventitive messures. Explain that to people and hope they are smart enough to avoid it

I'm just reminded of the Jimmy Carr joke.

Charity worker: "Can you spare 5 minutes for cancer research?"
Me: "Alright, but we're not going to get much done."

I forgot it was today, what with the trip and my subsequent sour disposition towards Toronto. I'm back home now, and I was still unaware today was World AIDS Day.:(

A moment of silence is due for those who've died from this terrible malady.

I will be mentally imagining "AIDS and religion are related!" people being hit by trucks.

I plan on catching it.
I hope you only do so ironically.

It's my wedding anniversary. So, I'm not really doing anything today to combat AIDS. I'm selfish.

are you doing anything for it?

Nothing, didn't even know it was today.
