Flip over the tortoise

Okay. So this is based off an assignment I had in college.

Look at a tortoise...on the top, the have a dark, rocky-looking shell that is often rough. On the bottom, a shell that is light colors and smooth.

Apply this to a quote, symbol, or anything else you want. First, look at it from the standard point of view...then, flip it over and look at it a completely different way.

Mine: The quote "This too shall pass".

Top side: Life will move on. Your suffering will end, and you will progress to a new segment of life with new knowledge and understanding. Life will get better.

Bottom side: Your happiness is not permanent. At some point, this happiness will end. You will meet sadness. Life will continue, and cannot be eternal happiness.

Overall impact: life is short. It moves on, with or without you. You will need to move with it, or risk being left behind.

To paraphrase another quote: Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional. Suffering arises from attachment. Inner peace is only achieved when we free ourselves from attachment and accept the reality of impermanence.

"Do you make up these questions, Mr. Holden? Or do they write 'em down for you?"

What do you mean, I'm not helping?

Damn. I read the title and thought it was rap slang for anal sex with reptiles. Do tortoises have an anus?
Hell yes. They even breathe with it!

Clearly it means that Dwarf Fortress physics are kooky enough that you can build a 20 story iron tower on sand with no difficulties.
