Well America, You Got Rick Rolled!
Shocking footage from Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=zxIvLcfNHPE) when Rick Astley, apparently hijacked a float to sing Never Gonna Give You Up to millions of unsuspecting spectators for the world's biggest Rick Roll! More at 11!

Old Meme is old.
That was my first thought to but when I watched it, given the joy of a parade, given Rick Astley himself came out - and I think he's previously distanced himself from the whole thing - well, I thought it was quite lovely.

Priceless! :D
Priceless! :D
Building a giant float for Macy's Thanksgiving Parade? $20,000 Dollars
Hiring Rick Astley for a performance? $100,000
Rick Rolling the entire United States of America? Priceless!

o great. Now we have to put up with another wave of 13yr old idiots with internet access rickrolling everything whilst labouring under the twin evil impressions that:
a. It's really funny, lmoa, lol, no really it is, you're just too old to get it, lolololol
b. No-one else is doing it, which is why I'm so cool (if you ignore the other 30 million geeks out there popping tents over their own feeble rickrolling attempts)
yay.
Just let it go already. it died 2 years ago, stop dragging it's corpse up and buggering it in public. It's just not the done thing, okay?

That's just a little bit bitter. I thought it was notable simply because it was Mr. Rick Roll himself and such a large event. That individual event was funny.
Rick Rolls by 13 year olds with no life, not so funny. Just block all the 13 year olds on your IM list for the next 30 days, they have short attentions pans. In a month they'll forget about the Rick Roll, and in a month they'll forget you even blocked them. Win Win right?

Yeah, I pretty much fell out of my chair laughing when I saw that this morning. The joke had genuinely gotten too old to be funny on the internet, but it was so delightfully unexpected in that context as to be hilarious. Kudos to Rick Astley for playing along with the whole thing. :)

How moot's tomfoolery with a word filter has gone from "beastiality redirects" to a float in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is absolutely delicious.

why wouldn't he be? It's not like his career is worth anything these days - or has been for a decade or more. He's finally trying to cash in on this silly meme, which is fair enough and all power to him.

I like that song. Okay, not like, but it's not offensive. It's just very 80s, which I grew up with.

Eh a while back he did an online interview with Q magazine (fairly large British music mag) basically saying that he's doing alright for money all the way back from the 1980s.

No, he was an announced guest, and when I saw that, I turned it off before his performance. So no, I didn't get RickRolled, kthnxbai.

The ultimate Rick Roll would be during Obama's swearing in. Right in the middle of him giving the oath it would be great if Astley jumped out and started singing. Epic Win on a grand scale.

Meh, not that funny, though Obama is from the right generation to hire Mr. Astley to perform at the Inauguration...

This was awesome. Stop being crotchety old men about the internet. Also, I realized that this was the 'Just as planned' moment. Rick Astley himself began the Rickroll, all so that it would culminate in this moment. All else was merely stepping stones.

I don't think it's technically possible. He could just start singing along, and neutralize the Rickroll.
