Same here. And we destroy the Earth, who is our Mother and our Savior.

As sentient species go, I'm not particularly impressed with humanity, but I'm not prepared to toss it into the trashcan until a better alternative comes along. Someone has to make my taco ingredients. :)

So innocent people deserve to suffer or die, simply by virtue of sharing some genes with murderers or the apathetic? (don't think those two are on the same level, by the way)

Seriously, this is how I see nature, how we should all see it. Humanity is the only hope to get beyond this state.

Considering that humanity has the potential to do some pretty awesome things, I'd say it's worth protecting the species so that we have the time to reach that potential.

I'll be long gone when this happens, so I don't care.

Unless you're on your dying bed at the very moment, you just can't be sure.
