Best game ever!

Yes, another one of 'these' threads. Except this one will actually be kept track of.
Rules:
In order for a game to be voted for, it must have at least 3 nominations.
Anyone can nominate any number of games.
The one with the most votes by the time this thread dies off, wins!:p
Games:
Rome: Total War: 4 votes
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time: 5 votes
Age of Empires: 3 votes
Civ 2: 4 votes
Civilization three: 3 votes
Portal: 4 votes
X-com: 5 votes
Starcraft: 4 votes
Anyway, I have two nominees:
MDK (If you don't know this, Google it, and download it)
Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (How can anyone NOT say this one?)
Hydesland
21-11-2008, 03:06
MDK?? Wow, that takes me back, wasn't that great though. Best game ever? Impossible to answer.

Ocarina was okay, but not even the best game on the N64 (That would be Goldeneye).
MDK was shit.
Nominations: Goldeneye, Civ3, Elite, Age of Empires, Quake
(off the top of my head).

RISK was awesome. No game could destroy friendship better than it. Plus it had unique, real time (and often R rated) commentary that differed each time the game was played.
I'll third Civ 3 and nominate Civ 2.
But also nominate the Prince of Persia series (too hard to pick one specific game)

For guaranteed, quick fun with friends: It's not MarioKarts, it's Micro Machines or something, the one where you race around a table on the first level, and can bump people off the course, it's evil
The game I've spent most time on: Starcraft
For amusing myself for a couple of hours: Lego Star Wars
Blouman Empire

I am going to also put down the Prince of Persia

Civilization 1 - Civ 2 is just a lame ripoff and looks worse than the veritable classic.
Betrayal at Krondor - Best cRPG ever made, EVER I tells ya!

For some reason, I didn't like the isometric view in Civ 2 or 3.

Yeah, I've heard from friends - always reliable sources  - that Fallout 3 is pretty much same as Morrowind: Many cool places to explore but rather uninspiring writing, both dialogue and story-wise.

But actually I suppose since we grew up around the same time and in an almost identical culture (though you call pints, pots or something) then it will stand to reason that we would have similar tastes. I still think evil genetic clone is a more likely reason :eek2:
They are pints in Irish bars. Everywhere else, a pot is 285mL, and a schooner is about 500mL. A jug is about 1.2L.

Half-life (The first one, Why? It changed FPS forever. And the mods. I just spent 5 hours playing a recently made mod for it, and it was awesome.)
PS:
Metal Gear Solid series also, just for the awesome fights and the very interesting storylines.

Master of Orion (the first one, the second one is decent, but first one ruled).
Baldur's Gate 1+2 + expansions.
X2 and X3 - Awesome space games.
Eve-Online (space mmorpg. It's wonderful!)
Star Control 2 (As was said, the small game which name I forgot was just great. Shooting friends down was soooo fun using that big cannon-like ship)
StarCraft :-D enough said

I can't stand Civ III - far too repetitive and predictable, and with some Wonders that completely unbalanced the game. Every game seemed to follow the same pattern, and far too much emphasis was placed on as rapid as possible early territorial expansion. I prefer IV to III, but memory -call it nostalgia- suggests II was the best.

Medieval - Total War
Football Manager (any version, including Championship Manager predecessors)

Yes, mentioned, though I'm not the biggest fan of the game, or, at least, the way the game seems to be played by most people (no auctions, non-monopolistic trading, etc.). Most of the time, the game dissolves into an unendable cycle.

Not much of a gamer these days. Bought my first PC to play Quake, but years later I was still playing Half Life (1) for the multiplayer. Player-made mods kept it fresh for years.

In no particolar order:
Master of Orion I - Custom units FTW!
Sid Meyer's Alpha Centauri - Modelling terrain was a great thing and you could customize units
Buzz Aldrin's Race to Space - Awesome original footage in this
Rome Total War
UFO Enemy Unknown
