Songs we cannot get out of our heads.

Yesterday I started watching a new anime, called Junjou Romantica. It's soft yaoi. I'm hooked! So hooked that in fact, I saw the first 10 episodes in one sitting and, now I have the opening song stuck in my head. I think I have an OCD where it comes to music.

Kimi=Hana (http://www.imeem.com/iarladiel/music/E-5oMJyt/pigstar_kimihana/), by Pigstar

My question is, NSG, which songs are stuck in your head? Which songs can't you stop humming?

Whilst I was at an archaeological dig over the summer, I couldn't get the Clash version of I Fought the Law out of my head, especially the line "Breaking rocks in the hot sun", for obvious reasons.

I told one of the people I was working with on the section of Roman road that I'd had the song in my head for a couple of weeks, and he called me psychotic.

Baker Street, by Gerry Rafferty. Some time ago, whenever somebody opened a certain toilet door at my university, I heard first sounds of the song. Then the song would stay in my head only to be completely forgotten when I reached the house, and I was getting driven to insanity by that.
Luckily, one day, my kitchen door made the exact sound, and I was instantly able to hum it to my dad and ask him the name of the song.

Do you have perfect pitch?

Not sure... It was like, say, the creaking of the door stirred some kind of a string in my head, or whatnot. I can hum a song in my mind (I don't think it's in any way unique), but I've never had any musical training. Before you asked, never even heard of perfect pitch. Maybe I was abducted by aliens, or experimented upon by a top secret government agency, who for some reason decided to imprint this very song deep into my subconsciousness? :D

Aside from Baby Romantica, I also have Six Gun Quota, Imaginary, Naraku no Hana, Cosmic Dare, and Got it Made in my mind's playlist.

Baby Romantica- End theme song of Junjo(u) Romantica. What makes this song so addicting: It's one of those songs that sounds hopeful. Since I don't know Japanese, I can only say it's just the tones.

Six Gun Quota- Seether From "Finding Beauty in Negative Spaces." What makes it so addictive: This is one of the songs that shows where I am in life. I'm tired of feeling like I'm being walked on so I'm taking a bit more control of my life.

Imaginary- Evanescence From "Fallen." What makes this song so addicting: It's where I am right now as well. I prefer living in my dreams because it means I can be with the one for whom I've fallen. Since this is more personal, I won't divulge the details.

Naraku no Hana- Eiko Shimimiya/ Beginning theme song to Higurashi's second season (Higurashi Naku no Koroni Kai). What makes this song so addicting: It's a beautiful song, though considerably dark in the translation. Besides, there's something about a song that translates out to be "A Flower From Hell."

Cosmic Dare (Pretty with A Pistol)- The Seatbelts. From the Cowboy Bebop Movie. What makes this addictive? Just a fast paced energetic song with a sassy dare involved! I actually made a ringtone of it.

Got it Made- Seether from Disclamer II. What makes it addictive? When I'm homesick, it provides a weird comfort. It's like realizing that I'm not the only one who has felt this way and that sometimes that is the price of success or future success.

Puffy Amiyumi - Teen Titans (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tNCoZIRKutA) (When I start a day with that, it won't leave me... *Teen Titans!*)

Great piece of music, fantastic remix. Plus: Fond memories of yesteryear!)

Amon Amarth - With Oden on Our Side (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6TkGKrwdSso) (Okay. This one... is constantly "playing" in my head recently. Maybe it has to do with me having the song on continuous repeat for hours while writing my final paper, or maybe it's because I've made a car-tape that has only this song on one side. But it's "up there", driving me forward...)

Manowar - Fight Until We Die (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xbibLHaw5M) (One of the alternatives I find myself humming.)

Manowar - Hand of Doom (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=REYrOtjyHdw) (For some odd reason this one "pops" into my mind fairly often. Grrrrr!)

Franz von Suppé - Light Cavalry Ouverture (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XFQpPbjJWTc) (This one is amongst my absolute favorites to have play in my mind, especially 2:08-2:54 but even more so 4:58-6:21. Wonderful composition, one can almost see the horses picking up speed... CHARGE!)

Ludwig van Beethoven - Für Elise (WoO 59) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rxUgJj_xGOQ) (This masterpiece of music comes to me in quieter moments and can stay with me the whole day, happily playing again and again and again.)

Ludwig van Beethoven - Mondscheinsonate (Piano Sonata No. 14) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9J1lDyI_fu8) (Another piece of Ludwig van, although this one appears unbidden only during darker episodes, is melancholy at its best. Oh, Beethoven...)

its been stuck in there for days, especially the lick that starts at 00:46 in the video. i've been playing that song (and the album) in my car, on my computer, at work, in the bath, in bed... fucking everywhere for days, and the amazing thing is i'm not tired of it yet :o
Arsis, eh? That's pretty crazy stuff.

"This video is not available in your country".

Fuck Kuwait.

Happened to me all the time when I was in Dubai too:p

Well, most of these songs you probably have never heard of. And you'll probably think that they suck, too. (Mostly Indonesian songs)

Diantara Kalian - D'Masiv
Hitamku - Andra & the Backbone
Menghapus Jejakmu - Peterpan
Metal vs. Dugem - Project Pop (You have to know the lyrics to get the joke - they're in Indonesian)
Bukan Superstar - Project Pop (Once again, you have to know the lyrics, and understand Indonesian pop culture-ish stuff)
Bellydancer - Akon
The Black Parade - My Chemical Romance
P.I.M.P - 50 Cent

Such a wide variety, ain't it?

"It's a small word after all" from Disney World. If you know what I'm talking about.....you're already either humming it and/or cursing me for bringing it up. Either way, it IS a small world after all!

Go to: http://disneyland.disney.go.com/disneyland/en_US/parks/attractions/detail?name=itsasmallworldAttractionPage&bhcp=1 to sample this most annoying tune.

Have a nice whatever.
