I saw this the other day and they make no mention that they're also in the Philippines - I was in Bohol sometime this year and they're kept in pretty crap conditions on the roadside but they are extraordinarily cute.
I think I made a thread on them but I'm not going to look.

EDIT: Okay, CNN does mention the Philippines version.
