Soon I'll be winging over to help stimulate Las Vega's economy. and I was rather curious as to the games of chance people on NSG play.

I myself like the Slots, but I play blackjack and it's many variants more often than the "one armed bandits" with a more than even chance of breaking even and coming home with more money than I left with.

so what gambling games do you play and how good are you at them?

I'm not the gambling type. The only gamble I took is when I won the heart of the one I now love. :)

blackjack and video poker. Occassional roulette when I don't feel like thinking.

I'm quote good at blackjack and can usually at least break even.

When I go to the casino I usually stick to blackjack. Roulettes the only other game I can play but I don't enjoy it.

I usually put a football coupon on at the weekends as well.

I only gamble with my physical wellbeing. And occasionally roulette. ;)

More ethnically oriented. I'm a crack at dominoes, really, I'm pretty good.

Truco, Ajiley, Mus, all with spanish cards are my favourite.

The only table game I've played is roulette, and that was just once. I did win $60 though!

I normally don't gamble at all but if I'm standing around a slot machine for some reason I might put in a couple of bucks. Once I put a buck in while I was waiting in line for a buffet and wont like $80.

I gave my wife $5 once to blow on some nickel slots down on Fremont street, before we lived here. She won $120 and we blew it at a strip club.

I keep wanting to try blackjack.

I've never really liked gambling. I've played slots a few times, got bored immediately. I'm not a card player, although the guys in my unit have regular poker and euchre tournaments.

Gambling runs in my family so while I feel the urgent desire to gamble, I pretend it doesn't exist. I've seen too much turmoil as a result of gambling addiction.

I am a pretty serious backgammon player, but I don't play for money except the odd small stakes games with friends.

yeah, Gambling Addiction isn't pretty... glad you can control it.

Mostly Texas hold'em.

I find Las Vegas to be the world capital of tacky.

I tend not to like chance card games, as I'm not very lucky. I prefer games like Hearts.

If I'm going to play a chance game, though, I like blackjack and most varieties of poker that aren't "texas hold 'em"

I like playing blackjack and poker, but i have a very poor poker face, unless i really concentrate. In private that is, i wouldn't waste my money in public gambling places unless i felt like wasting alot of money.

You wish you had a better then a break even chance at slots lol. Slots are one of the largest profit centers a casino has because the payoff is typically in the 93-95% payout range. That may seem like alot but when you pull the handle 200x an hour those few % points add up fast. This is far better then say the lottery which is about a 40% payout but slots are still a one way cash train for the casinos.

If you want to have even close to approaching 50% chance of winning in a casino your best bets are Texas Holdem(requires skill so is very variable) Perfectly played blackjack pays close to 50% and one of the only exactly even bets in an entire casino is the backup bet off the passline in craps.

Do yourself a favor and get one of those pocket sized blackjack cheatsheets. If you just coldly follow the rules no matter how wrong it feels youll do yourself a favor. Its not how to play "perfect" blackjack but it will minimize your bets against your own statistical best interests. Everyone knows the basics but know when to split 88s with an 8 showing etc and cheatsheet will tell you statistical best choices.

yet I tend to break even with blackjack and I've seen various cheatsheets that give different odds for the same combo of cards. ;)

I like black jack, sometimes craps. Never had a big enough stake that I felt comfortable entering the poker room.

At black jack I once turned $50 into $300, and then lost the whole damn thing because I couldn't get the people I came with to leave and there was nothing else to do.

I usually don't. What can I say, I was born and raised in Nevada and know damn well that you lose money in the casinos.

That said, blackjack and craps are usually good places to play. If you can understand it, pai gao poker is also usually a good game to go after.

I play Blackjack; I am very good at it. Better than most.

I also play Texas Hold 'Em but I don't have much luck on deals.

Slots and roulette. That way, when I lose, which I will, I can blame luck instead of lack of skill (never mind that no one held a gun to my head and made me play).

A question for the Hold 'Em fans, since there seem to be a lot here: what's the attraction over "real" poker (ie stud & draw)?

Roulette, Blackjack, Pontoon, 2Up, The Wheel and I occasionally I bet on the horse racing machines casinos have.


I also play Poker at the casino and while that game does have an element of chance to it, it isn't strictly a game of chance in the same way as Roulette.

That's true in fact SA law states that 89.5% of all money must be paid out, but considering that doesn't mean you will get 89.5 cents for every dollar you put in which means they earn quite a lot of money.

That is one thing I did forget to mention I also play the pokies though it may only be $1-$2 at the very most.
