I found this quite entertaining:
Orthodox officials in a central Russian region say an abandoned church building that was to be put back into use has been stolen by local villagers.

Orthodox priest Vitaly of the Ivanovo-Voskresenskaya diocese says officials last saw the two-story Church of Resurrection intact in late July. Sometime in early October, however, people from the nearby village of Komarovo, northeast of Moscow, dismantled the building, he said.

Villagers apparently sold it to a local businessman, one ruble (4 cents) per brick, Vitaly said.Source (http://edition.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/europe/11/13/russia.church.stolen.ap/index.html)

People stealing a two story church... Reminds me of the Carmen Sandiego games from way back when.

Not as impressive as the time some Russians stole a steel bridge. Now that takes dedication...

This is better.

A church is one thing. I read about the bridge too. But this wins.

No! The Grand Canyon!

LG would just cheat and fill it with custard and declare the Grand Canyon "stolen". You can't do that with the White House.

See the Ruskies have the right idea!
Clearly the way to reduce recession involves selling All the financial buildings in all cities, then people make their own houses and their own profit.
And so it was that the Empire state building relocated to a small vineyard in Italy.

You see, the Grand Canyon is really just a big hole in the ground. Stealing the ground that makes up the hole just results in a bigger Grand Canyon. You've not stolen anything, just enlarged it.

So it takes creativity to steal Grand Canyon.

For one, you could time travel to Magrathea and steal the part of plans involving the Grand Canyon - then there wouldn't be any hole, yet it would be a theft, though of intellectual property.

Unless you steal so much land around it that the bottom of the Grand Canyon and all other land on Earth is at sea level. That would take some work though, to smooth out the rest of the world.
