For me I am playing CoD4, Smackdown vs Raw 08 (its kinda fun), and going back through Final Fantasy 8. I also have recently done a few campaigns on MTW2: Stainless Steel Modification, in the last week.

HoI2. This morning I finished beating the crap out of the UK, having done the same to the USSR yesterday. Next on the list is recapturing Iceland (bastards first rebelled, then declared independence) and doing a lot of research. Eventually an invasion of the US, with lots of little sci-fi Wehrmacht helicopters. :p

Fuck yeah Fallout 3. I just completed the game. Now, to go back and do it evilly. I have a feeling I missed alot that the game had to offer. I didn't even get to any areas north of the Potomac minus Washington itself.

You've played up to the 50's (very hard, furious setting I assume?)?

I tend to play Hard, aggressive and whenever I come close to being winning (such as 50% of the land of enemies taken, or most of their army destroyed) I always cheat and make the enemy strong (ah, event 1006, 1009 and 1004, where would I be without you?).

I'm playing KotOR 2 again, along with a couple of Space Empires V games.

I prefer older games and "outdated" graphics, so Perfect Dark, Secrets of Mana, and Age of Mythology. PD was so amazing. Sure, Halo 3 has some customization, online, and that playback thing, but it doesn't have bots in multiplayer. Not only does PD have bots, it also lets you customize the ai, so that you can have a dumb or smart one that goes after whoever killed it last or to prefer running and gunning over just standing there shooting at everything that moves. Plus it has the laptop gun. The laptop freak'n gun that you can throw so that you can have an ai turret helping you.

Why do bots rock? Because they aren't three year olds with a vocabulary more colorful than a gay pride flag.

last time I played HoI I was the US.. my men were equipped with flack jackets, assault rifles, and wire guided AT missiles when they attacked the Nazis and had Jets for air support... the Japanese had already been badly defeated by the Chinese and I didn't even need to bother with them and that was on hard...

Let's see, this weekend I've played, in descending order of attempt:

Nationstates
Nationstates 2
City Empires
Luxor AR (2005?)
Heavy Gear (animations run a little too fast on XP) (1999?)
Commander Keen - I simply didn't find this very interesting (1991?)
SimCopter (crashes every thirty minutes on XP) - when is someone going to do a remake of this? (1999?)
Railroad Tycoon Deluxe (works almost perfect on XP) (1990?)

Red Alert 3 is amazingly epic on so many levels. :)

I actually think it's a rather big failure as an RTS. Resource management is POOR during campaigns because of your co-commander hogging all the resources all the time; not to mention resource gathering is too slow.

A lot of units aren't anywhere near as useful insituations as they ought to be, and the powers are too clunky without the ability to set the A.I. to use them automatically at intervals.

The zoom is barely a zoom function at all. It only zooms in when what it really needs is to zoom out a lot more.

Pathfinding is rather poor indeed, and transportation of units is clunky too, especially with the Soviets. That "Man-cannon" is worthless because most of the time your units are getting shot out of the sky.

They overdid the hamminess and went way, way, WAAAY too far with the ladies. Red Alert II was bad enough with this, but at least there the women officers actually wore, you know, actual uniforms. Here they seem to wear pornographic version of their uniforms; I keep expecting to see one of them start stripping.

The game is offensive, and not even Tim Currey and George Takei can save it.

Yeah, epically fail on the DRM.

Yeah, that too. Especially with not allowing co-op play on a LAN, which is really weird. Why do that?

The only time I actually go with hard/aggressive with the U.S.A or U.S.S.R (Spend 2-3 years building IC and it's a cakewalk, similar to USSR). If I'm Germany I tend to make it a little easier, otherwise it's a trip down Reload Alley every 20min or so. :p

I played the beta. It was a fun enough game and Curry, Takei, Pryce, and Simmons had me giddy with excitement for the campaigns, but damn, none of that is worth the "lenient" authorization limit they insist is meant to combat piracy as opposed to the second hand games market.

I might still buy the game. Once it's been adequately priced to make up for the defects.

I try, but I always end up going the "good path" and helping everyone in need, except when I replay the game and force myself to be an evil bastard. But if you like this sort of thing, you really should check out the sequel to KotOR. It scored lower in reviews, mostly because of its rather unfinished state, but it has great characters and it really makes you think about the consequences of your actions.

I'm borrowing my copy from a friend, who said he'd let me borrow it since he knew I'd want to play the campaigns no matter how bad I thought the game was, and he's right.

But as soon as those are done, this thing is going straight back to him and out of my life.

I remember before Kingdom Hearts II came out...I spent so much time watching for information on it, then watching the in game cutscenes and other stuff (In Japanese) when it came out in Japan so much that I completely spoiled it for me and ended up not really having much fun playing it at all.

Word of advice to people: Don't ever do that. You do something like that, you'll always get your anticipations and hopes up far too high for anything to ever satisfy them.

I actually thought the co-commanders were fairly helpful in defending against enemy attacks until 2/3rds of any given campaign. Then they start wasting resources and the enemy AI overpowers them.

I do agree that pathfinding is quite awful. As for the women, as an 18 year old male I can't complain too much.

I'm borrowing my copy from a friend, who said he'd let me borrow it since he knew I'd want to play the campaigns no matter how bad I thought the game was, and he's right.

But as soon as those are done, this thing is going straight back to him and out of my life.
Well, I never said I went out and bought Ra3. I could have "borrowed" the game from a friend. ;)Good, good. EA's shown they don't care about paying customers, so it's best to keep the number of those down.

There's this one multiplayer map with a lake in the middle and a Veteran Academy in the middle of that where my engineers would always get stuck trying to reach the water. I take it they haven't solved issues like that?

Huzzah!

Yeah, I hadn't played Morrowind since the summer, and I thought I was sick of it. Then I was watching someone play Fallout 3 and I realized "You know, I never finished the main quest or the assassin's guild quests..." and I was sucked back in again.

Right now I'm playing "Graduate from University".

So far I've managed the "Hand in your final paper" level, the three "Pass the final written exams" levels, started off with a win in the first of five "Take the final oral exam" and I'm preparing for the 2nd level right now.

After that, I might even think about playing the odd game again. Right now - nope.

Hey I'm playing that game too.

Currently I am on the "final assignment" level and also on the "final exams forever" level.

I am hoping I do well in this "final exams" level as it will take me to the bonus level the "18,000 word thesis" level.

Hey, that's great! Best of luck to you.

I believe I've already completed that bonus level with 27802 points, uhm, words.

Damn, if I get into that bonus level I don't think I will be getting that many points. But good luck with the rest of your course.

I hardly ever use VATS, takes some fun away. I still feel quite bad (even though I'm an evil character) of pushing an old man to his death off of an old Aircraft Carrier. I said " I think I can help" thinking it meant I could help him with his problems and save him. They tricked me into helping an old man commit suicide (didn't even pay me any caps for it either. I've yet to play a free roam FPS. WHat are some of the major problems? Performance hiccups, illogical sequence of events?

No real intregrated plot or feeling that you're actions have any effect on the game world, endless filler missions of no real purpose, endless faceless goons who never vary in difficulty. hours of walking between locations, and a limited amount of set for any action e.g. being told to go the train station to blow up something, them being told to go to the train station to collect something, then being told to go to the train station to kill someone.

The game is still fun. It's just this is what happens when the game director gives up the ability to control the camera and direction of movement of the player.

I have that game. Haven't played it in ages though. Maybe I will reinstall it, and play sometime soon. Do you have just the first game, or are you on the expansion packs?

Pathfinding is still fairly bad. I was playing one of the Japanese missions and sent my engineers to go capture an observation tower on the other side of the map and five minutes later he was still stuck behind a fence not far from my base. :(

That's what patches are for, I guess. =\

What server are y'all playing on?

I have WoW, played it for a bit, but got bored with it. I'm thinking about giving it a try (I got the original game and the expansion pack) and wouldn't mind playing with some of you guys. :)

I, as well as Cogitation and Siri, are on Earthen Ring.

Sinistra is my priest. (My main, may be on, during raiding times)
Achina is my paladin.
Bilrow is my hunter.
Ilima is my shaman.
Luneria is my mage. (Most likely going to be on that toon)

running a conference this week (woo for crappy hotel "broadband"), but in the last few weeks Fable 2 has grabbed me by the balls. i'm not sure how much time i've put in, but i've barely played the story - i've just loved exploring and becoming something of a property mogul (and fucking rich, too :D)

a friend lent me Crackdown, which i'll give a whirl when i get back, and i feel like getting Saints Row 2, because a) i didn't get the original, and b) because GTA4 was excellent, but i'd also like something a little less serious.

The title says it all, really. Tell us what games you are playing at the moment (recently).

For me I am playing CoD4, Smackdown vs Raw 08 (its kinda fun), and going back through Final Fantasy 8. I also have recently done a few campaigns on MTW2: Stainless Steel Modification, in the last week.

Medieval 2: Total War and Fallout 3 right now.
