NSG CoH/CoV supergroup interest

I hope this isn't against the rules. I know there's some interest among NSG'ers in City of Heroes and City of Villains. What I was wondering was, would you all be interested in starting new characters on the same server as a Supergroup (when we get high enough level)? If so, we'll have to pick a server, and whether we're heroes or villains. With issue 13 coming out soon, this might be a great time for us to get started.
I vote for Freedom server, as villains.

I don't think I've got anything on Freedom. I have a 50 hero on Guardian, and a 50 villain on Infinity...
I'm up for it, if we can agree on a server.

Well, we could all create new characters, if necessary.

Oh yeah - I was more thinking of the fact that - when creating an SG - especially when all the new toons will be lowbies, it can be helpful to have a couple of top level toons in the SG for the sake of being able to buy enhancements, etc.
But it's by no means mandatory.

Ah. Well, I've got a level 42 bots/force field Mastermind on Freedom, that might be able to serve as a sort of patron. IIRC, someone else here has a high level character on Freedom, too.

I have a 40 fire/fire blaster on Virtue, also - if we need a patron. But - I think that's me tapped out for anything bigger than a ten or so. :D

I've got characters all over the place. My highest are on Freedom and Virtue, but I wouldn't mind creating yet another alt. Lately, It's been tough finding time to play though.

So, Freedom, Guardian, and Virtue were mentioned, so far. Maybe a poll will help decide (once more people post).
Hopefully we'll get some more responses from other CoH/CoV players.

What kind of classes do you have in CoH/CoV?

Heroes have 5 main archetypes:
Blaster: High Ranged and Melee Damage, Low Hitpoints and Defense.
Controller: Mez specialist with Buffing secondary, Low Hitpoints and Defense.
Defender: Buff specialist with ranged damage secondary. Medium hitpoints and some defense.
Scrapper: High Melee Damage, Medium hitpoints and high defense.
Tanker: Medium Melee damage, Aggro management and Very High Defense.
Villains have 5 main archetypes:
Brute: High Melee Damage, High Hitpoints, High defense.
Stalker: High Melee Damage, Low Hitpoints, High Defense. Stealth specialist.
Dominator: Mez specialist with ranged and melee damage secondary, Low hitpoints.
Corruptor: High ranged damage, Buffing secondary. Low hitpoints.
Mastermind: Pets specialist. High damage, Buffing secondary, low hitpoints(however, he can share damage with his pets.
There are also epic archetypes that can be unlocked by getting a hero(opens Warshades and Peacebringers) or villain(opens Arachnos Soldiers and Arachnos Widows) to level 50.
My personal favorites are Masterminds, Tankers and Defenders. I also like my Arachnos Soldier.

I have an account I could re-activate perhaps (though I don't think I have any characters at the moment, at least not ones I'd be interested in continuing to play), but I don't remember, did CoH/CoV have different servers for the American and European players? Because if so I'm probably on the European ones.

IIRC, American and European players can play on the same server. The servers are Freedom, Justice, Pinnacle, Virtue, Liberty, Guardian, Infinity, Protector, Victory, Champion, Triumph, and the Training Room (training room is a separate client file though). Obviously, the server names were picked before CoV came out, but you can have a mix of heroes and villains on each server.

Looking into it, I see that Europe has its own two servers (Union and Defiant). So European players can decide to play on an American server if they wish (and vice versa)?

Not exactly, you subscribe to either the EU or the US servers separately and they are managed independently. It is perfectly possible to buy a US subscription via their US website if you are based in the EU (and vice versa as a couple of our SG have done) but if you are already subscribed to the EU version you will have to get a new subscription for the US ones.
I'm unfortunately EU based (all on Union since Defiant is a bit of a ghost server at times), although WAR has mostly been grabbing my MMO time at the moment. But I suspect I shall go back to CoH after a break because I do love the play style and the friendly community.

My faves are the Mastermind, Tank, and Blaster classes, and my wife is a Defender specialist (pure empath healer).
To answer Wilgrove via - the archetypes are pretty varied, actually. Which is good and bad - you recruit what you hope is a healer (because they're a defender, usually the 'healing' class), and you get an archery trick-shotter. There's a big scope of variety even within an archetype (some more than others). A fire/willpower tank plays almost totally differently to a superstrength/invulnerability tank and a bots/bubbles mastermind plays very differently to a zombie/dark mastermind.

What is the spell casting class in this game?

What is the spell casting class in this game?
There isn't one - per se.
You can start from a magic 'origin', and pick powers from all the same sets as all the other origins.
So - you can build a toon that shoots fire out of his hands and can do so because he's a robot.... or you can do it because he's a mage. (Both of those would probably be best suited as blaster archetype)
If you want some defensive/healing abilities and some spell caster type attacks, you probably want a defender - maybe an empathy/radiation defender (gives you heals, and attacks with a built in debuff).
Or maybe a controller, with a earth/kinetics powersets - for some of the best holds in the game, and a versatile buff-ish secondary.
Like I say, there's no 'spellcaster class' as such, but there's a lot of potential for spellcaster type characters.
EDIT: and that's just looking at hero-side...

There aren't really any bad choices. I have gravity and illusion controllers that I play fairly regularly (illusion 'trollers might just be my fave flavour). I've probably spent more time playing a superstrength/invulnerability tank than anything else, but that is largely because he was the founder of a supergroup, and thus got a LOT of play. There's fun to be had in just about any archetype - although I personally, have just never 'felt it' for scrappers (the melee-damage-kings).
Controllers are always useful though - :) - they tend to be quite underrepresented, and have the ability to drastically change the tide, maybe even more so than any other one archetype.

Well because of my own religious choices, I like to play the spell casters (or any variant) in my games. :)
