Obama's Cabinet
Now, probably the most important decision Obama will be making over the next few months is the makeup of his cabinet. Let's throw out some ideas.
One idea that came up on the McCain Concession Speech thread would be to offer McCain a seat. While it's somewhat unlikely, it would be ironclad proof that Obama intends to reach across the aisle to accomplish the things he plans to do. I could see McCain as Secretary of Defense or Homeland Security.
Another possibility would be Colin Powell, perhaps as State or Defense. It might bring up the race issue, but given the amount of respect the Republicans have for Powell, it would probably help overall. And let's face it - Powell is most definitely qualified for the job.
Any other ideas?

Well, you could always start with Bill Ayers as Secratary of Education. He should be a given.
Then you have his speech writing friend from Mass., I bet he'll be included somehow.

The makeup of his cabinet?
Mahogany, 7' tall, 4' wide, with about 6 shelves, for different items of crockery and cutlery, as well as a bottom cupboard where he will store stuff like Monopoly and Scrabble, as well as tablecloths and wrapping paper.

Colin Powell's disastorous presentation at the UN regarding Iraq & WMD should most definitely disqualify him from those positions.

Plymouth Gin, Brandy, Single Malt Scotch and a good Bourbon, light and dark Rum, Vodka, Tequila, sweet and dry Vermouths, Angostura bitters, Grenadine, Triple Sec would do as a start.

Agreed. What a douche that guy is.

I'd be shocked if he didn't offer it to Powell first.

Why would he do that? Powell's a Republican.

Why would he do that? Powell's a Republican.
Because Kerry is a massive wanker and Powell is a) more experienced and b) gave his support to Obama despite being a Republican.

C) Powell is a genuinely intelligent man who'd offer good advice.

So? You don't help out the party you just defeated. You kick them until they die.

Obama didn't run for the benefit of the Democratic party, he ran for the benefit of the country. Therefore, he should get the most intelligent and capable advisers, no matter what party they support.

Also, there has to be someone better than Kerry to choose from for secretary of state. The criteria must be something other than "lots of people know his name" and "he's a democrat".......if he's the best there is.......I must have missed something.

How do you figure? The entire point of winning the election is to use your term to destroy the weakened opposition.
