Do you ever get a runny nose when you eat? Tell me I'm not the only one.

It's not a real meal unless your nose runs. Of course, I'm a big fan of spicy food.

Only if my meal consists entirely of nasal decongestants. So no, usually I don't have to blow my nose.

funny thing, Koreans love insanely spicy food. But it is very rude manners to blow your nose at the table or in public. So they keep sucking the snot back in while they eat. Incidentally I have learned to do this.

See now that is disgusting, there is nothing worse to hear ever then somebody breathing in their snot.

I do when I am eating something that is very hot(spice wise).

Well, as most of you know we here in the states have some "weight" problems. People like me who are too lazy for exercise, diets, bulimia or anorexia usually blow our noses. Why? Well, you see... As you all probably know the esophagus does lead to the pharynx which leads to the nasal cavity...

Besides that no, I do not blow my nose after eating unless I'm sick at the moment and I don't like spicy foods. However I am interested in why a person's nose runs after eating spicy foods. Does anyone know why this happens?

It agitates the glands and all that, and it does warm up the mouth. Therefore your boogers get oozy.

As a side note, this thread made me hungry for spicy food. I have a bag of Blair's Death Rain kettle chips with me now. And some smoked applewood cheddar to dull the burn a touch.

Totally unprofessional answer here.

I think it may have to do with the heat of the food, it melts the snot to a liquid form thus causing it to run.

This answer maybe so wrong that I am going to laugh at it.
